San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Bridge stretches 2,737 metres across the strait connecting the Bay to the Pacific Ocean, making it one of the most recognisable landmarks on the planet. The city rises and falls across more than 50 hills, offering dramatic views at every turn — from the waterfront at Fisherman's Wharf to the historic corridors of Alcatraz Island. Culture lovers can spend hours at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), while nature enthusiasts will find peace among the 400 hectares of Golden Gate Park, home to the California Academy of Sciences and the de Young Museum. The lively neighbourhoods of the Mission District and Chinatown each bring their own character, food, and street art. Beyond the city, the landscape opens up quickly: Napa Valley lies just 90 km to the north, perfect for a leisurely wine-country drive, while Santa Cruz is roughly 115 km to the south along the coast. San Francisco's compact urban core sits on a peninsula, so heading out by campervan or motorhome means crossing one of its famous bridges — plan your route and you'll be rewarded with incredible coastal and inland scenery. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from a local owner, giving you the flexibility to start your trip right from the city and discover Northern California at your own pace.
San Francisco enjoys a mild climate year-round, making it a great base for campervan travel in any season. Summer brings the famous fog, but September and October — known locally as "Indian summer" — often deliver the warmest days. The city hosts Fleet Week each October, with spectacular air shows over the Bay. In spring, the San Francisco International Film Festival draws visitors from around the world. Booking a motorhome through Yescapa's peer-to-peer platform can help you find competitive rates, especially outside peak summer months. Plan ahead for July and August to secure the best choice of vehicles from local owners in San Francisco.

Campsites in and around San Francisco cater to a range of travellers, from those seeking coastal settings to convenient urban stops. Most sites offer full hook-ups for motorhomes and level pitches suited to campervans of all sizes. Facilities typically include hot showers, toilets, laundry rooms, and Wi-Fi. Since options within the city itself are limited, many travellers base themselves at parks just south or east of San Francisco and drive in for day trips.
Parking a larger vehicle in San Francisco requires some planning. Street parking for motorhomes and campervans is restricted in many neighbourhoods, and overnight parking on public streets is generally not permitted for oversized vehicles. Look for dedicated lots that can accommodate taller and longer vehicles. Always check posted height and length limits before entering a car park, and consider arriving early at popular spots near the waterfront.
Alles super, Fahrzeug, Vermieter und Ablauf!
We had the best trip with the van "Fiona" we rented by Cuca - the most amazing host. There was no problems with the van, and it was driving great for an old car. The van also had everything we needed like a portabel shower, a sink with running water, a cooler and a much needed parasol. Cuca recommended the best beaches and places, and responded quickly to any questions we had. We cant recommend Cuca and the van enough!
Everything went perfectly, the van was just what we wanted for our trip, would do it again.
Great
Nous avons vécu une expérience formidable, tant avec le van qu'avec Hervé et Muriel. Je recommande vivement leur véhicule : il est très confortable, facile à conduire et parfaitement équipé pour passer de superbes vacances. Encore merci pour tout.
