Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way stretches 2,500 kilometres along the western seaboard, making it one of the longest defined coastal driving routes in the world. From the dramatic Cliffs of Moher in County Clare to the ancient monastic settlement of Skellig Michael off the Kerry coast, the country packs an extraordinary range of landscapes into a relatively compact area. Dublin to Galway is roughly 210 kilometres, while Cork to Killarney covers about 85 kilometres — both manageable day drives that open up entirely different scenery. Rolling green countryside gives way to rugged Atlantic headlands, and narrow country lanes connect charming villages where you can park up and explore on foot. Ireland's well-maintained national roads make it easy to cover ground, though many of the most rewarding routes follow smaller regional roads where a campervan is the ideal way to travel at your own pace. Whether you want to trace the Ring of Kerry, wander through the Burren's limestone karst landscape, or discover the lakes of Connemara, having your own vehicle means total flexibility. Through Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners based across Ireland, giving you a wide choice of vehicles and pick-up points to match your itinerary perfectly.
Ireland is a wonderful destination from spring right through to autumn. May and June bring long daylight hours and wildflowers across the Burren, while September offers quieter roads and golden light along the coast. The Galway International Arts Festival in July draws visitors from around the world, and the Puck Fair in Killorglin each August is one of Ireland's oldest traditional gatherings. Campsite availability is best when you book ahead for July and August, the most popular months. Through Yescapa, peer-to-peer pricing often means better value compared to traditional hire, especially outside peak weeks. For a relaxed trip with mild temperatures and fewer fellow travellers, late spring and early autumn are ideal for exploring by campervan.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Follow the Antrim coast from Belfast to Derry, passing the Giant's Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Around 200 km of coastal scenery with well-placed campervan stops. The Glens of Antrim offer peaceful detours inland, and Bushmills is worth a pause for its famous distillery.
This classic 180 km circuit around the Iveragh Peninsula takes in Killarney National Park, the colourful town of Kenmare, and views across to the Skellig Islands. Ideal for a campervan, with plenty of lay-bys and campsite options. Drive anticlockwise to avoid coach traffic on narrower stretches.
Cover the southern stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way from Cork to Galway, roughly 350 km through West Cork, the Beara Peninsula, and the Cliffs of Moher. Motorhome-friendly roads connect fishing villages and sandy beaches. Stop at Kinsale for seafood and Doolin for traditional music sessions.
Explore 400 km of history from Dublin south through Glendalough's monastic ruins, Kilkenny's medieval mile, and Waterford — Ireland's oldest city. Well-surfaced roads suit all vehicle sizes. Visit the Rock of Cashel and the Hook Lighthouse, one of the oldest working lighthouses in the world.
Journey 550 km from Galway up through Connemara, County Mayo, Sligo, and Donegal. This stretch of Ireland rewards slow travel — Achill Island, Slieve League cliffs, and Malin Head (Ireland's most northerly point) are highlights. Campervan-friendly campsites dot the route, and the roads are quiet and scenic.
A 700 km loop starting and ending in Dublin, taking in Cork, the Ring of Kerry, the Cliffs of Moher, Galway, and back through the Midlands. This motorhome-friendly route covers Ireland's greatest hits with time to linger. Pass through Limerick, explore the Aran Islands by ferry from Rossaveal, and enjoy the Bog of Allen's unique landscape.

Ireland offers a great variety of campsites, from coastal spots overlooking the Atlantic to peaceful inland sites beside lakes and rivers. Many are well equipped with electric hook-ups, modern shower blocks, and dedicated pitches for both campervans and motorhomes. You will find options spread right across the country — along the western seaboard, through the green heartlands, and near popular towns in the south and east. Most sites are family-run, adding a welcoming, personal touch to your stay in Ireland.
Ireland has no toll system for motorways in the traditional vignette sense, but several major routes charge per-use tolls, including the M50 around Dublin which uses barrier-free eTag or video tolling. The M1, M4, and M6 also have toll plazas. Speed limits on motorways are 120 km/h for cars, but vehicles over 3,500 kg are limited to 80 km/h on all roads. Most Irish motorways are dual carriageway with two lanes each direction. Outside the main corridors, national secondary roads (N-roads) are generally well surfaced but can be narrow in rural areas — worth noting if you are driving a larger motorhome. Rest areas and service stations are spaced along major routes, though less frequent on regional roads.
It was our 1st time in a Caravan, and we feel very fortunate that we have done it with Jeremy & Annabella, their Caravan is exactly as decribed in the pictures, in a perfect mechanical situation, we had 0 problens through the whole joirney, and we were 6 people in that Caravan, I have no doubt that we will reserve it again in the future. The check in and out went completely smoove with Jeremy, you can feel free to trust them!
Great, responsible, and responsive owner. Van is equipped as advertised. The refrigerator loses its battery fast when van is turned off, so it caused some issues overnight in hot weather. Cars engine is a bit weak when driving uphill, but never caused any real issues. Great choice if you want a small van for exploring towns and coast of Andalusia.
Absolutely recommended renter. Really kind and nice people. They gave back the van clean in and out, so big respect to you guys. Thanks for your rent.
Very nice camper that has a lot of comfort for travelling Mallorca. One star less due toSlow/difficult communication with the owner, who only started to confirm our messages/questions 1 day before the actual start of the trip, The fact that the agreed pick-up time was not respected (and not communicated before we arrived on the airport) and got delayed with 1,5 h.Do know that towels and linnen are available in the camper (or they were at least for us), so no need to bring them.
Fantastic experience renting Dirk’s camper van! Pick-up and drop-off were exactly as we wished—very flexible both in time and location, which we really appreciated. The van was perfect for four adults: spacious, spotlessly clean, and excellently equipped with everything we needed and more. It was also very easy to drive and everything worked perfectly. Dirk provided a very handy e-book with all the essential information about the van, which made everything even easier.A pure pleasure from beginning to end—we would definitely rent from Dirk again!
Sandro and gus were on hand to help with any issues that arose. Loads of power for the steep windy roads, the van was well equiped and comfortable . An extra blanket for parking at altetude was apreciated as it was cooler up the hills. Shower worked but not much hot water. We had a small scrape with another car and insurance sorted the third party but we lost some of our deposit to repair van. Sandro was very helpfull and there was no dramas. So maybe paying for comprehensive insurance would be a better plan in future.
