Why choose Los Angeles for your road trip

Los Angeles — a city worth exploring

Los Angeles stretches across 1,302 square kilometres of coastal basin, making it the largest city by area in California and one shaped by its iconic car culture since the first freeway opened in 1940. From the star-studded Hollywood Walk of Fame to the world-class collections at The Getty Center, the striking architecture of Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the living ecosystems on display at the California Science Center, Los Angeles rewards curious travellers at every turn. Santa Monica Pier sits just 25 km west of downtown, while the Joshua Tree National Park entrance is roughly 210 km east — both ideal day-trip or overnight destinations when you have your own wheels. The city's wide boulevards and generous parking infrastructure make it surprisingly approachable for larger vehicles, though the canyon roads leading into the Santa Monica Mountains deserve a little extra attention. Hiring a campervan or motorhome through Yescapa connects you directly with local owners across Los Angeles, so you can pick up a vehicle in the neighbourhood that suits your itinerary and benefit from personalised tips on where to park, camp, and explore. With a campervan as your base, you can wake up beside the Pacific one morning and be deep in the desert the next — all without worrying about hotel check-out times.

Best time to visit

Los Angeles enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate year-round, making any season a great time to visit. Spring brings the LA Times Festival of Books each April on the USC campus, while October's West Hollywood Halloween Carnival draws creative crowds from across the region. Summer is the busiest period for campervan travel, so booking your hire on Yescapa a few weeks ahead helps you lock in the best choice from local owners. Winter offers quieter campsites and comfortable daytime temperatures around Los Angeles, perfect for exploring without the crowds.

Alles super, Fahrzeug, Vermieter und Ablauf!

We had the best trip with the van "Fiona" we rented by Cuca - the most amazing host. There was no problems with the van, and it was driving great for an old car. The van also had everything we needed like a portabel shower, a sink with running water, a cooler and a much needed parasol. Cuca recommended the best beaches and places, and responded quickly to any questions we had. We cant recommend Cuca and the van enough!
