Granada's Alhambra palace welcomed over 2.7 million visitors in 2023, making it Spain's most visited monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. Nestled at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, this Andalusian city offers a remarkable blend of Moorish and Renaissance architecture. Wander through the narrow streets of the Albaicín quarter, where whitewashed houses and jasmine-scented courtyards open onto panoramic views of the Alhambra. The Cathedral of Granada, completed in 1704, stands as one of Spain's finest Renaissance churches, while the nearby Capilla Real houses the tombs of Ferdinand and Isabella. For a change of pace, the Science Park of Granada (Parque de las Ciencias) provides interactive exhibits perfect for families. The coast at Salobreña is just 72 km south, offering Mediterranean beaches, and the ski resort of Pradollano in the Sierra Nevada sits only 33 km southeast. Granada's compact old town is best explored on foot, but the surrounding region — with its mountain passes and coastal roads — is ideal for a campervan adventure. Hiring a motorhome through Yescapa connects you with local owners who know the best routes through the Alpujarras valleys and along the Costa Tropical. With a campervan, you can wake up to mountain views one morning and hear the sea the next, all at your own pace.
Granada welcomes visitors warmly throughout the year. Spring is especially rewarding, when the Cruces de Mayo festival fills the city with flower-covered crosses each May. Autumn brings the Granada International Jazz Festival in November, a great excuse to explore the city's cultural scene. Summer is perfect for combining Granada's sights with trips to the Sierra Nevada or the nearby coast. Winter offers a unique chance to ski at Pradollano and visit the Alhambra without the queues. Booking a campervan through Yescapa gives you access to competitive peer-to-peer prices year-round, and planning ahead for spring and summer helps you secure the best choice of vehicles from local owners in Granada.
Granada is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 68 km south through the Lecrín Valley to reach the Costa Tropical. Stop at the Salobreña castle for panoramic sea views, then explore the beaches of Almuñécar just 10 km further east. Campervan parking is available along the seafront, and several small campsites dot the coastline between both towns.
Drive 55 km southeast to the Sierra Nevada, home to mainland Spain's highest peak, Mulhacén (3,479 m). In summer, the Hoya de la Mora car park at 2,500 m offers motorhome-friendly spaces with mountain views. Explore the Alpujarras villages of Pampaneira and Capileira on the southern slopes — roads are winding but well-maintained.
Follow the A-92 for 125 km southwest to Málaga, stopping at Antequera to visit the UNESCO-listed Dolmens and the striking El Torcal rock formations. In Málaga, explore the Picasso Museum and the Alcazaba fortress. Campervan facilities are available at several campsites along the coast west of the city, with easy access to beach towns like Torremolinos.
Travel 160 km northwest to Córdoba, crossing rolling olive groves along the A-92 and N-432. The Mezquita-Catedral is the city's centrepiece, and the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos and the Roman Bridge deserve a full afternoon. Motorhome parking is available near the Guadalquivir riverbanks. Stop in Alcalá la Real on the way to visit the Fortaleza de la Mota.
Head 250 km north to explore the Renaissance towns of Úbeda and Baeza, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Continue east into the Parque Natural de las Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas — Spain's largest protected area. Campervan-friendly campsites sit along the Guadalquivir river source area. The roads through the park are scenic and well-suited to smaller vehicles.
Cover 340 km west to Seville via the A-92, passing through the olive country around Osuna. In Seville, visit the Real Alcázar, the Cathedral and Giralda tower, and stroll through the Plaza de España in Parque de María Luisa. Several motorhome-friendly campsites operate on the city outskirts with bus links to the centre. Stop in Loja on the way out of Granada for views over the Genil gorge.

Granada and its surroundings offer a good range of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Close to the city you will find sites with full hook-ups, modern shower blocks and laundry facilities, while further into the Sierra Nevada and the Alpujarras there are quieter options surrounded by nature. Many sites provide hardstanding pitches for larger vehicles and Wi-Fi throughout. Whether you prefer a base near the city centre or a mountain retreat, there is a campsite to match your trip.
Parking a motorhome or campervan in Granada requires some planning, as the historic centre has narrow streets and restricted access zones. The city enforces a low-emission zone (ZBE) in the Albaicín and central areas, so check your vehicle's classification before entering. Overnight parking in public streets is generally permitted outside restricted zones, but dedicated motorhome areas offer a more comfortable option with services. Always confirm current regulations with local signage or the Granada municipal website before settling in for the night.
Our experience with Yescapa was extremely poor. The pickup location for the camper was incorrect, which caused us to lose both time and money, as we had to take an Uber to the actual location, which we essentially had to figure out ourselves. When we arrived at the Roadsurfer office, they initially refused to rent us the camper because they claimed that my driving licence had not been issued by a country accepted by the company. However, when I made the reservation through Yescapa, I provided all the required information and uploaded photos of my licence. This caused us further delays and additional expenses, as I had to pay for an international driving licence validation. Communication was also very poor. We were basically unable to get in touch with anyone to ask our questions or receive assistance regarding the issues we encountered.
Pepe was lovely from beginning to end. All of our requests were accommodated and he was responsive when needed. The pickup service was very nice, even though we were a bit delayed at the beginning (also around 23.30) he still patiently waited for us at the airport without a hassle. This made the beginning of the trip very nice and the small gift was consumed almost immediately, thank you once again. ;) The van was super also, the bad is very very comfy, I am 183 cms and it was perfect for my height. The AC is a very nice addition also, which made even the staying in the blazing sun bearable in the van. Would recommend both the host and the van to anyone!
We had a superb long weekend trip in Gonçalo’s converted van and couldn’t be happier with the experience. Gonçalo was a very friendly owner and always responded promptly to all our questions, which made everything easy and stress-free from the beginning. The van came with everything we needed and was very well prepared for our trip. It was comfortable, practical, and perfectly suited for our family of four. Gonçalo was also incredibly helpful throughout, which we really appreciated. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend both Gonçalo and his van to anyone looking for a great family campervan experience.
Perfect. Everything went smoothly, good communication, owners very friendly, the vehicle was just as described and in very good condition. We can definitely recommend for future renters!
Mathieu was easy to communicate with and flexible. The van is perfect- simple, well organized, and very comfortable for sleeping. Mathieu equips the kitchen with some basics, and 2 camping chairs- it is really nice.
