Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences, designed by Santiago Calatrava, stretches across 350,000 square metres of the former Turia riverbed. This architectural complex alone draws millions of visitors each year, but the city offers far more than one landmark. The historic Silk Exchange (Lonja de la Seda), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands in the heart of the old town, while the Central Market of Valencia fills over 8,000 square metres with fresh local produce under its modernist iron-and-glass dome. A short walk away, the Cathedral of Valencia claims to house the Holy Grail in its Chapel of the Santo Cáliz. Beyond the centre, the Albufera Natural Park lies just 10 km south, a coastal lagoon perfect for a quiet afternoon. Heading north, the town of Sagunto and its hilltop Roman theatre sit roughly 30 km away, making for an easy day trip. Valencia's flat terrain and wide coastal roads are ideal for travelling by campervan or motorhome, with no mountain passes to worry about along the seafront. Through Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across the city, which means flexible pick-up points and genuine recommendations from people who know Valencia best. The peer-to-peer model keeps things personal and often more affordable than traditional rental agencies, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace.
Valencia enjoys a Mediterranean climate with over 300 days of sunshine a year, making it a great destination in any season. March brings Las Fallas, the city's famous festival of fire and giant sculptures — book your campervan early as it is the busiest week of the year. Summer is perfect for beach days along the Malvarrosa coastline, while autumn offers comfortable temperatures for exploring the Albufera by bike or boat. Winter remains mild and welcoming, with fewer crowds at major sites. Through Yescapa, peer-to-peer pricing often means better value outside peak months, so a February or November trip to Valencia can be both quieter and easier on the budget. Whenever you visit, hire ahead to secure the best choice of vehicles.
Valencia is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 75 km south from Valencia to Xàtiva, a town crowned by one of the finest hilltop castles in Spain. Spend a day exploring Xàtiva Castle and the Collegiate Basilica of Santa Maria, then stop at the Coves de Sant Josep in La Vall d'Uixó on your return. Campervan parking is available near the castle entrance, making access straightforward.
Drive 65 km north from Valencia along the coast to reach the walled old town of Peñíscola, perched on a rocky headland. Visit the Castle of Papa Luna and walk the narrow streets above the sea. The nearby Sierra de Irta Natural Park offers coastal trails with motorhome-friendly parking areas at its southern access points.
Travel 160 km southwest from Valencia through the Manchegan plains to Albacete. Stop at the Almansa Castle along the way and explore the Museo de la Cuchillería in Albacete itself. The flat, open roads are easy to navigate by campervan, and the Parque de Abelardo Sánchez offers a green break in the city centre. Campsites near Albacete provide full hook-ups.
Follow the AP-7 motorway 180 km south from Valencia to Alicante, passing through Benidorm and the coastal towns of the Costa Blanca. In Alicante, climb to the Santa Bárbara Castle for panoramic views and stroll through the Explanada de España. Motorhome service areas are well-spaced along this route, and Alicante has several campsites within 10 km of the centre.
Cover 350 km west from Valencia to Madrid through the rolling landscapes of Castilla-La Mancha. Break the journey at Cuenca to see the famous Casas Colgadas (Hanging Houses) and the Ciudad Encantada rock formations. In Madrid, visit the Prado Museum and Retiro Park. Plan your campervan parking in advance — Madrid's Casa de Campo area has dedicated spaces for larger vehicles.
Head 300 km northeast from Valencia to Barcelona along the Mediterranean coast. Stop in Tarragona to explore the Roman amphitheatre and the Cathedral of Tarragona. In Barcelona, wander through the Barri Gòtic and visit the Sagrada Família. Coastal campsites between Castellón and Tarragona offer beachside pitches, and motorhome service points are frequent along the AP-7.

Valencia and its surrounding coastline offer a good range of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Along the coast you will find sites with direct beach access, while inland options near the Albufera provide a quieter, nature-focused setting. Most campsites in the Valencia area include electric hook-ups, modern shower and toilet blocks, Wi-Fi, and dedicated pitches for larger vehicles. Several also offer laundry facilities and on-site shops, making longer stays comfortable and convenient.
Parking a motorhome or campervan in Valencia is manageable with a bit of planning. The city centre has height restrictions on most underground car parks, so larger vehicles should use dedicated surface areas. Overnight parking in public streets is generally permitted unless signposted otherwise, but always check local signs for time limits and size restrictions. Several dedicated areas around the city welcome recreational vehicles and offer convenient access to public transport into the centre.

Exceptional experience, I highly recommend it! Nuno is responsive, attentive and genuinely caring: he picked us up at the airport and provided us with a comprehensive list of must-see spots to explore the island, eat and sleep. Thanks to him, we discovered Madeira in a truly unique and authentic way. An unforgettable trip, made possible in large part by his invaluable help.
Great trip in this Vintage van! This is a old van, be aware of it, but everything work and the experience was really smooth. Pedro is very helpful and professional with his van. Strongly recommend for the vintage experience van life
Car is “hursh but fair”. Need a few km to grab a feeling but than you cruise. We went 900 km in n all kind of conditions and it was all good. All is in working order as described and not too long so you fit in a parking spot.
