The campervan is the ultimate all-rounder. Effortlessly practical and built for freedom, it’s just as at home navigating tight city streets as it is exploring the heart of the countryside.
Castellón de la Plana sits at the foot of the Desert de les Palmes natural park, where a 17th-century Carmelite monastery still stands among 13 km of protected Mediterranean woodland. The city's Plaza Mayor is home to the Fadrí, a freestanding octagonal bell tower completed in 1604 that has become the defining symbol of the local skyline. Art lovers will enjoy the Museu de Belles Arts de Castelló, which houses works spanning from the 14th century to contemporary pieces, while the Concatedral de Santa María offers a fascinating blend of Gothic architecture rebuilt after the Spanish Civil War. Just 5 km east, the Grau de Castelló district connects the city to its port and beach, giving you direct access to the coast without navigating tight urban streets. Valencia lies 75 km to the south, and the medieval hilltop town of Peñíscola is 72 km to the north, both making excellent day trips. The surrounding terrain is ideal for motorhome travel — flat coastal roads run parallel to the sea, while gentle inland routes wind through orange groves toward the Serra d'Espadà. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners in the Castellón area, which means personalised tips on where to park, which beaches to visit, and how to make the most of the region. Renting a campervan through our peer-to-peer platform keeps things flexible and straightforward, whether you plan to stay on the coast or head inland.
Castellón comes alive in March during the Festes de la Magdalena, a ten-day celebration featuring processions, fireworks, and the symbolic Romería de les Canyes pilgrimage — a perfect time to experience local culture from your campervan. Summer brings long beach days along the Grau de Castelló coastline, and September's cooler evenings are ideal for exploring the Desert de les Palmes by motorhome without the busiest holiday traffic. Booking through Yescapa gives you access to competitive peer-to-peer pricing, especially outside July and August. We recommend reserving early for spring, as Castellón's festival season draws visitors from across the region.
Castellón is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 72 km north from Castellón along the coastal N-340 to reach the walled fortress town of Peñíscola. Stop at Oropesa del Mar for a swim and visit the Torre del Rey. Peñíscola's castle, built by the Knights Templar, overlooks the sea. Campervan parking is available near the old town walls.
Drive 60 km northwest from Castellón into the hills to reach Montanejos, famous for its natural thermal springs at the Fuente de los Baños. The route passes through Onda, where you can visit the Castillo de las 300 Torres. Roads are well-maintained and suitable for a motorhome, with parking near the river.
Cover 150 km south from Castellón to Alicante via the AP-7 motorway. Break the journey at Sagunto to see the Roman theatre, then continue through Valencia's Albufera lagoon. In Alicante, explore the Castillo de Santa Bárbara and Barrio de Santa Cruz. Campervan-friendly aires dot the route.
Travel 110 km southwest from Castellón through the Jérica valley to reach Teruel, a UNESCO-listed city famed for its Mudéjar architecture. Visit the Torre de El Salvador and the Mausoleo de los Amantes. The A-23 road climbs gently into Aragón, and Teruel offers dedicated motorhome parking near the centre.
Set off 200 km northwest from Castellón toward Zaragoza via the Mudéjar Route. Stop in Mora de Rubielos to see its medieval castle, then continue to Zaragoza's Basílica del Pilar on the banks of the Ebro. Campervan services are available at several points along the A-23 corridor.
Journey 280 km south from Castellón to Murcia, following the Mediterranean coast. Pause at the Columbretes Islands viewpoint near Grau, then visit Elche's Palmeral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Murcia's Cathedral de Santa María rewards the final stretch. Hire a campervan to enjoy flexible overnight stops along the way.

The Castellón coastline and its surrounding countryside offer a good range of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Along the Grau de Castelló and nearby beach towns, you will find sites with full electrical hook-ups, modern shower blocks, and dedicated pitches for larger vehicles. Inland options near the Desert de les Palmes provide a quieter setting with access to hiking trails, while still offering essential facilities like fresh water, waste disposal, and Wi-Fi.
Castellón offers several options for parking a campervan or motorhome while you explore the city. Overnight parking in urban areas is generally permitted unless signposted otherwise, but setting up camp furniture or awnings on public roads is not allowed. The Grau de Castelló beach area has larger spaces suited to bigger vehicles, especially outside peak summer weekends. Always check local signage for height and weight restrictions before parking in the city centre.
Cemil is very kind and friendly. Everything was very easy and Cemil gave flexibility in the pick up and return times. The campervan is really clean and new, with all the needed accessories including comfortable garden chairs that made our trip a wonderful experience. All the systems worked well (WC, shower, sink, stove and sunshade). We travelled with 2 kids and a dog. We really recommend and we certainly will repeat.
We rented the campervan from Dinos for ten days to travel the Pelopennese and it was a wonderful trip. The interior of the van ist very well designed and thougt trough. It has everything you can ask for and you are very independent and self sustainable. The van itself ist in perfect condition and long drives, narrow villages or mountain roads are no problem with this vehicle. The perfect van to travel the Pellopenese or Greece in general. Enough about the car. Dinos is one of the kindest people I met in a long time. The whole interaction we had regarding the renting and also during our trip was very friendly. You can feel that Dinos (and also his friend) are very passionate about the van, traveling and sharing their experiences. During our trip I asked him several times about recommandations for restaurants or places to visit on our route and he send me some of the longest messages I ever received. Trip advisor is nothing compared to Dinos. If anyone ist looking for a great van with a kind an passionate owner. This is the one.ευχαριστώ πολύ για όλαRaphael & Theo
Vivi et Titi sont adorable ca a été un plaisir de les rencontrer
I recommend to rent Sebastien's motorhome, we have had a good experience. Sebastien is responsive and helpful, during the booking a bit faster answers would have helped our preparation. Despite the language barrier, he explained carefully how the motorhome operates. We had some challenges fixing our child seats, but he helped us with some appropriate rope to improvise. Note, there are no isofix points. Bed linien and towels are not included in the price, but for a small extra cost they will provide this, we have discussed in advance. What was not clear for us in advance, and you have to count with this, that on the last day you need to wash the car in a hand washing place that is ca. 15 minutes away from the drop-off location. Only a few euro extra cost for washing, but ca. +1 hour extra time. The motorhome was functioning very well and was comfortable, it was perfect for us, 2 adults and 2 small children. It was my first time driving an A-class, it was nice, but for me personally driving experience is more comfortable in a low-profile.
We had a amazing time discovering beautiful Andalusia in Antonio's campervan. It's easy to see that he put a lot of love and care into building it. The van has everything you need. Pick up and drop off was very comfortable and Antonio was always quick to respond when we had a question. Thanks a lot!
We had a really great time with Milka and the team. Very friendly people, fast at responding to all our questions and helped with our needs. Only giving 4 stars to Mylka because we had small issues here and there along the way but nothing that it won't be solved for the next trip. 100% recommended!!!
