The campervan is the ultimate all-rounder. Effortlessly practical and built for freedom, it’s just as at home navigating tight city streets as it is exploring the heart of the countryside.
Castellón de la Plana sits at the foot of the Desert de les Palmes natural park, where a 17th-century Carmelite monastery still stands among 13 km of protected Mediterranean woodland. The city's Plaza Mayor is home to the Fadrí, a freestanding octagonal bell tower completed in 1604 that has become the defining symbol of the local skyline. Art lovers will enjoy the Museu de Belles Arts de Castelló, which houses works spanning from the 14th century to contemporary pieces, while the Concatedral de Santa María offers a fascinating blend of Gothic architecture rebuilt after the Spanish Civil War. Just 5 km east, the Grau de Castelló district connects the city to its port and beach, giving you direct access to the coast without navigating tight urban streets. Valencia lies 75 km to the south, and the medieval hilltop town of Peñíscola is 72 km to the north, both making excellent day trips. The surrounding terrain is ideal for motorhome travel — flat coastal roads run parallel to the sea, while gentle inland routes wind through orange groves toward the Serra d'Espadà. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners in the Castellón area, which means personalised tips on where to park, which beaches to visit, and how to make the most of the region. Renting a campervan through our peer-to-peer platform keeps things flexible and straightforward, whether you plan to stay on the coast or head inland.
Castellón comes alive in March during the Festes de la Magdalena, a ten-day celebration featuring processions, fireworks, and the symbolic Romería de les Canyes pilgrimage — a perfect time to experience local culture from your campervan. Summer brings long beach days along the Grau de Castelló coastline, and September's cooler evenings are ideal for exploring the Desert de les Palmes by motorhome without the busiest holiday traffic. Booking through Yescapa gives you access to competitive peer-to-peer pricing, especially outside July and August. We recommend reserving early for spring, as Castellón's festival season draws visitors from across the region.
Castellón is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Peñíscola sits 70 km north of Castellón on a rocky headland jutting into the sea. Explore the 13th-century Castle of Pope Luna and wander the narrow streets of the old quarter. Stop in Alcossebre along the way for quiet coves and a swim. Coastal campervan pitches here offer sea views and easy beach access.
The Serra d'Espadà natural park lies just 45 km west of Castellón, wrapped in cork-oak forests. The village of Aín has walking trails to natural springs, while Eslida impresses with its Moorish castle ruins. Mountain roads are paved but narrow — a campervan handles them well. Quiet pitches in the valleys make for peaceful overnight stops.
Valencia is 75 km south of Castellón and rewards with the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias and the historic Mercado Central. Break the journey in Sagunto, where a Roman theatre and hilltop fortress await. The AP-7 motorway is wide and toll-free on this stretch. Valencia has several motorhome parking areas close to the city centre for convenient overnight stays.
Teruel lies 160 km northwest of Castellón and is famous for its UNESCO-listed Mudéjar architecture. Visit the towers of San Martín and El Salvador and the Mausoleum of the Lovers of Teruel. The N-234 route winds through the Maestrazgo highlands, passing villages like Mora de Rubielos with its Gothic castle. Campsites in the area offer tranquil surroundings and plenty of space for larger vehicles.
Alicante sits 190 km south of Castellón on the Costa Blanca. The hilltop Castillo de Santa Bárbara overlooks the city, and the MARQ archaeological museum covers 100,000 years of history. Along the way, stop in Dénia for its castle and harbour with ferries to the Balearic Islands. The AP-7 runs smoothly along the coast. Alicante has dedicated campervan parking areas near the waterfront.
Albacete lies 280 km southwest of Castellón, a gateway to the plains of La Mancha. Visit the Museo de la Cuchillería and the Catedral de San Juan Bautista. Continue to the windmill landscape of Consuegra and the historic Corral de Comedias theatre in Almagro. The flat terrain makes for effortless motorhome driving. Campsites across the region are quiet, spacious, and affordable.

Around Castellón you will find campsites right on the coast and in the green hinterland. Most sites offer pitches for motorhomes and campervans with electric hook-ups, fresh water, sanitary facilities, and Wi-Fi. Coastal sites give you beach access and sea breezes, while inland options provide peace and nature. Many campsites also feature pools and restaurants, making them great for families.
Castellón offers several parking options for motorhomes and campervans. The city centre has timed parking zones, but the outskirts and the Grau de Castelló harbour district provide more spacious areas. Overnight sleeping in vehicles is generally not permitted on public car parks unless they are designated motorhome areas. Watch for height restrictions in underground garages and opt for surface-level car parks where possible.
My experience with dominik’s van was mostly positive! Being from the US it was a bit more complicated but it worked out. The van was nicely designed one of a kind. Plenty of storage and space for 2 people. The vehicle was not ready when we arrived to pick up but was quickly resolved. Check in took a bit longer so prepare for this. Would’ve like to have everything ready for our trip but wasn’t too inconvenient. Mattress is a bit soft for trips over 4 nights. Van performed good overall. Very easy to drive, nice fridge once it gets going. Thank you dominik for allowing me to rent your vehicle. I recommend this van & would rent again!
We rented the campervan from Rogério and immediately received personal service, including a detailed explanation via an instructional YouTube video and a link to a website that perfectly organizes everything you need to know regarding operating the campervan. We really enjoyed using the campervan; it works amazingly well, and you can see that genuine, custom work went into it—like the number of USB outlets, the hangers/hooks, the ceiling fan, and so many other things. We had a great experience and will definitely come back.
All was very smooth including meeting at the airport for pick up and drop off. Van is exactly as described with everything you need.
the campervan was in excellent condition. we had no problems. miguel was impeccable and very pleasant. we enjoyed our vacation. thank you miguel. our kisses from greece.. vamos spain
Fantastic Campervan Hire Experience Great communication from the very beginning, and the campervan was exactly as described and shown in the listing. The vehicle drove very well, was clean, well-maintained, and surprisingly economical. Chris, the owner, was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. A few days before pickup, he sent us helpful YouTube videos with instructions on how to use the campervan, which made everything much easier and really added to the overall experience. The pickup and return arrangements were also very convenient. We were able to drop the campervan off and Chris drove us to Düsseldorf Airport at the end of our holiday after a lovely weekend in Cologne, which was the perfect way to finish our trip. We would definitely hire from Chris again and highly recommend both Chris and Yescapa. The entire process was simple, straightforward, and enjoyable from start to finish.
