Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Valencian Community

Valencian Community — a region worth exploring

The Comunidad Valenciana stretches across 518 kilometres of Mediterranean coastline, making it one of the longest coastal regions in Spain and a natural playground for road trips. From the towering Serra d'Aitana in the province of Alicante to the wetlands of L'Albufera Natural Park just south of Valencia city, the landscape shifts constantly between sandy beaches, citrus groves, and rugged mountain terrain. The distance from Castellón de la Plana in the north to Torrevieja in the south is roughly 280 km, while Valencia city sits about 160 km from Alicante along the AP-7 motorway. Along the way you can explore the medieval hilltop castle of Peñíscola, wander the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, or follow the palm-lined paths of the Palmeral of Elche, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region's well-maintained coastal roads and compact geography make it ideal for campervan travel, whether you prefer a quick weekend escape or a longer loop through the interior sierras. Motorhome-friendly service areas and campsites are spread right across the Comunidad Valenciana, so you can plan stops without long detours. Through Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners based in Valencia, Alicante, and smaller towns, giving you flexible pick-up points and a wide choice of vehicles suited to the region's mix of coastal cruising and mountain roads.

Best time to visit

The Comunidad Valenciana enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate that suits campervan travel from March right through to November. Spring is especially rewarding — the famous Las Fallas festival lights up Valencia city every March with enormous sculptures and fireworks. In August, the Tomatina festival in Buñol draws visitors from around the world. Summer is the peak season along the coast, so booking your motorhome early on Yescapa gives you access to competitive peer-to-peer prices and a wider selection of vehicles. Autumn brings comfortable temperatures and quieter campsites across the Comunidad Valenciana, perfect for exploring inland routes at a relaxed pace.

What you need to know about roads and motorways in Valencian Community

The Comunidad Valenciana is served by the AP-7 motorway, which runs the length of the coast and is toll-free throughout the region. The A-7 runs parallel as an alternative. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3,500 kg are 90 km/h on motorways and 80 km/h on conventional roads. Rest areas with services appear regularly along the AP-7, and most are accessible to larger vehicles. Be aware that some mountain roads in the interior, particularly around the Serra de Mariola and Serra d'Aitana, feature tighter bends and steeper gradients — a campervan under seven metres handles these comfortably.

Simone and his partner were very nice and friendly, eager to get to know everything about the motorhome. They were very attentive and considerate during the handover, as well as easy to communicate with throughout their trip. They treated my motorhome with care and respect and certainly did their best to return it in the condition in which they received it. It was a pleasure having them as my guests, and I highly recommend them to other owners.
