Ibiza stretches across 572 square kilometres, making it the third-largest of the Balearic Islands, yet its 210 kilometres of coastline pack in over 80 distinct beaches — from the calm turquoise shallows of Cala Comte to the pine-fringed sands of Cala Salada. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Dalt Vila, the fortified old town of Ibiza Town, rises above the harbour with Renaissance-era walls dating back to the 16th century. Beyond the coast, the island's interior reveals a quieter side: whitewashed villages like Santa Gertrudis and Sant Joan de Labritja sit among almond groves and red-earth farmland. The drive from Ibiza Town to Portinatx in the north covers roughly 25 kilometres, while the route from Sant Antoni de Portmany to Santa Eulària des Riu spans about 20 kilometres — both manageable in well under an hour. Narrow rural roads wind through terraced hillsides, and the island's compact size means you can explore a different corner each day without long transfers. Travelling by campervan gives you the flexibility to chase sunsets at Sa Talaia, the island's highest point at 475 metres, or wake up near a quiet cove. With Yescapa, you can hire a motorhome or campervan directly from local owners across the island, choosing from a range of vehicles that suit your group size and travel style. It is a practical, personal way to experience Ibiza at your own pace.
May and June are ideal months to hire a campervan in Ibiza, when temperatures sit comfortably around 25°C and the island's beaches are pleasantly uncrowded. The Ibiza Medieval Festival in May transforms Dalt Vila into a lively open-air market with music and period costumes. Summer from July to September is the most popular season — booking early on Yescapa often means better choice and competitive peer-to-peer pricing. Autumn brings the Ibiza Light Festival in October, with art installations across the island, plus warm seas still perfect for swimming. Even winter has its appeal: mild days around 15°C suit cycling and hiking through the island's interior trails.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 90-km route takes you all the way around Ibiza. Start in Ibiza Town, head along the east coast through Santa Eulària des Riu and Sant Carles de Peralta, continue north to Portinatx, west to Sant Antoni de Portmany, and return via the Ses Salines salt flats. A motorhome gives you the comfort to enjoy the full diversity of the island. Five to seven days are ideal for this circuit.
Over 40 kilometres, discover the south of Ibiza. From Ibiza Town, drive to the Ses Salines salt flats, continue to Platja d'en Bossa beach and the quieter cove of Es Cavallet. The flat landscape is well suited to a campervan. Along the way, look out for flamingos in the salt lagoons. Three to four days are enough to explore the southern coastline at a comfortable pace.
Over 70 kilometres, immerse yourself in the cultural heart of Ibiza. Start at Dalt Vila, the fortified old town of Ibiza Town, drive through the village of Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera — known for its art galleries — to Sant Miquel de Balansat with its fortress church. Continue to Sant Mateu d'Albarca, surrounded by vineyards. The winding country roads reward you with views over olive groves and terraced fields. Five to six days are ideal for this route.
This 110-km route links Ibiza with neighbouring Formentera via the ferry from Ibiza Town harbour. On Ibiza, explore the east coast through Santa Eulària des Riu and Es Canar before crossing to Formentera. There, visit the lighthouse at Cap de Barbaria and the beach at Platja de Ses Illetes. Seven to ten days give you plenty of time for both islands. A campervan is ideal for Formentera's narrow roads.
This 60-km loop takes you from Sant Antoni de Portmany along the west coast of Ibiza through Cala Comte and Cala Bassa to Cala Tarida. Stop at small coves with crystal-clear water, ideal for a swim. The roads are well-surfaced and easy to navigate in a campervan. Allow three to four days to enjoy each beach at a relaxed pace.
Covering around 50 kilometres, this route explores the peaceful north of Ibiza. Start in Sant Joan de Labritja, drive past the bay of Benirràs — known for its sunsets — and continue to Portinatx with its three swimming coves. The hilly terrain and pine forests make this trail especially appealing for nature lovers. Three to five days allow time to explore walking paths in the area too.

Ibiza offers a selection of campsites spread across different parts of the island. Whether you prefer parking your campervan near the coast or settling your motorhome in the quieter interior, sites provide electrical hook-ups, sanitary facilities and often direct beach access. Booking ahead during peak season is recommended to secure the best pitch on Ibiza.
Ibiza has no motorways or toll roads. The main routes are the E-10 connecting Ibiza Town to Sant Antoni de Portmany and the E-20 running from Ibiza Town to Santa Eulària des Riu. Speed limits on these primary roads are typically 90 km/h for standard vehicles, but motorhomes over 3,500 kg must keep to 80 km/h. Secondary roads across the island are narrower, often single-lane in rural areas, with a 50 km/h limit in built-up zones. Parking in Ibiza Town and Sant Antoni can be tight for larger vehicles, so arriving early is wise. Rest areas are limited, but the short distances between towns mean fuel and facilities are never far away.
We had an amazing experience with Rubén and Clara 's van! It's one of the smartest designs I've ever seen, with so much storage space despite the compact design. It drives so smoothly and the condition of the interior is immaculate. Loved the outdoor shower and water collection system. Rubén and Clara were fantastic to deal with, lovely people, friendly and clear in their communication, and very responsive to texts. The only thing we did miss, was the A/C when driving in 40 degrees summer temperatures, but we were prepared as that is clearly marked in the listing.
we had a very good experience with Pedro, from the beginning any questions we had he answered thoroughly and the handover was easy and fast. We had an issue with the fridge that it stopped working after we already went away 2 hours away but after talking with Pedro he came all the way to us with a replacement - this is uncommon -- thank you very much Pedro you were our hero! overall the van is very comfortable for 2 people, and is equipped with anything you would need from stove to sink and cutlery.
We rented the van for 7 days and had a great time. The van is equipped with everything you could need, and easy for first time campers. The rooftop was a great place to eat breakfast with an amazing panoramic view. Solar panel makes it super easy, since you are not restricted by having to recharge at a camping site, but can stay several days in nature (if weather allows). Nothing good words for Tobias and his campervan. 10/10 would do again :)
Fantastico :)
