Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Mallorca

Mallorca — a region worth exploring

Mallorca's Ma-10 road winds for 140 kilometres along the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage mountain range that drops dramatically into the Mediterranean. The island packs an extraordinary variety of landscapes into just 3,640 square kilometres — from the salt flats of Es Trenc to the underground chambers of Coves del Drac near Porto Cristo. Palma, the capital, sits on the south-west coast, roughly 75 kilometres from the medieval hilltop town of Pollença in the north. Heading east, the drive from Palma to the lighthouse at Cap de Formentor covers about 80 kilometres and rewards travellers with sweeping coastal views. Mallorca's road network is well maintained and manageable, making it ideal for exploring by campervan or motorhome at your own pace. Quiet coves like Cala Deià and Cala Figuera are easy to reach, while the interior offers almond groves, weekly village markets, and the historic monastery of Lluc. With Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across Mallorca, choosing from a range of vehicles — from compact campervans for winding mountain roads to larger motorhomes for family trips along the coast. Peer-to-peer sharing means more choice, more flexibility, and a genuinely local start to your island adventure.

Best time to visit

Mallorca welcomes travellers comfortably from April through October. Spring is ideal for the almond blossom season and the Fira del Ram fair in Palma, which runs from late March into May. September and October bring warm seas and the grape harvest festivities around Binissalem. Summer is the most popular period, so booking your campervan on Yescapa early gives you the widest choice from local owners at competitive peer-to-peer prices. Mallorca's mild autumn and spring temperatures make longer road trips especially enjoyable, with campsites across the island open and well serviced throughout the season.

The best road trips in Mallorca

To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.

The Tramuntana Mountain Road

140 km 3–6 days

Follow the Ma-10 from Andratx to Pollença through Mallorca's UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana. Stop at the village of Valldemossa, visit the gardens of Alfabia, and take in the hairpin descent to Sa Calobra. Around 140 km of mountain scenery — a campervan handles the narrow bends with ease.

The East Coast Coves Trail

120 km 3–5 days

Explore Mallorca's eastern shoreline from Porto Cristo to Cala Rajada, passing the Coves del Drac and the sandy beach of Cala Millor. Detour inland to the fortified town of Artà and its hilltop sanctuary. About 120 km with plenty of campsites near the coast — ideal for a short motorhome trip.

The Southern Beaches Loop

200 km 5–8 days

Start in Palma and loop through Mallorca's south, visiting the salt flats of Es Trenc, the fishing village of Colònia de Sant Jordi, and the Cabrera Archipelago viewpoint. Continue to Santanyí and its golden-stone old town. Around 200 km with wide, easy roads suited to both campervans and motorhomes.

The Interior Villages Route

300 km 5–8 days

Discover Mallorca's heartland on a 300 km loop from Palma through Sineu, Petra, and Manacor. Visit the weekly market in Sineu — one of the island's oldest — and the birthplace of Junípero Serra in Petra. Quiet country roads wind through vineyards and almond orchards, with campsites in Llucmajor and Inca.

The Full North Coast Explorer

350 km 7–11 days

Travel from Palma to Sóller by the vintage train route, then drive north through Fornalutx, the Lluc Monastery, and on to Cap de Formentor. Return via Alcúdia's Roman ruins and the wetlands of S'Albufera Natural Park. Around 350 km across Mallorca's most varied terrain — allow a week to enjoy it fully.

The Grand Mallorca Circuit

500 km 10–15 days

Circle the entire island on this 500 km route, combining coast and mountains. Begin in Palma, head west to Andratx, follow the Tramuntana north to Pollença, cross to Artà, descend the east coast to Santanyí, and return via Llucmajor. A campervan or motorhome gives you the freedom to stop wherever the road invites you.

What you need to know about roads and motorways in Mallorca

Mallorca has no toll roads, so you can drive freely across the island without extra charges. The main motorway, the Ma-1, connects Palma to Inca and is well suited to motorhomes. Speed limits for vehicles over 3,500 kg are generally 80 km/h on dual carriageways and 90 km/h on motorways. Mountain roads in the Serra de Tramuntana are narrow with tight bends — a campervan is easier to handle here than a large motorhome. Rest areas and petrol stations are well distributed along major routes. Watch for height and width restrictions on some rural roads, and always check signage before entering old town centres.

Great experience renting with a child and a dog. Carina was an amazing host—always in touch and very supportive. She even met us before the payment to check if our larger car seat would fit the Isofix, and she welcomed our dog for free, even giving us a nice blanket for him.The camper was in good condition. The only downside was having just one gas bottle instead of the usual two. It ran out unexpectedly at night, and since gas bottles were not available at the gas stations along our way, we couldn't get a replacement. As a result, we spent the last 2.5 days of our trip without heating or the stove. Other than that, everything was perfect. Highly recommended!

The van of Jordi was perfect to spend nice holiday on the island. Tasteful and cute decoration, everything was prepared great for us. The van itself was compact and easy to park and drive. We had small technical issues on the way but Jordi was very fast to deal with the problem so that we could enjoy the rest of the trip. It was our first travel with van and everything went smoothly in the end so I can recommend it to anyone!
