Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Mallorca

Mallorca — a region worth exploring

Mallorca's Ma-10 road winds for 140 kilometres along the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage mountain range that drops dramatically into the Mediterranean. The island packs an extraordinary variety of landscapes into just 3,640 square kilometres — from the salt flats of Es Trenc to the underground chambers of Coves del Drac near Porto Cristo. Palma, the capital, sits on the south-west coast, roughly 75 kilometres from the medieval hilltop town of Pollença in the north. Heading east, the drive from Palma to the lighthouse at Cap de Formentor covers about 80 kilometres and rewards travellers with sweeping coastal views. Mallorca's road network is well maintained and manageable, making it ideal for exploring by campervan or motorhome at your own pace. Quiet coves like Cala Deià and Cala Figuera are easy to reach, while the interior offers almond groves, weekly village markets, and the historic monastery of Lluc. With Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across Mallorca, choosing from a range of vehicles — from compact campervans for winding mountain roads to larger motorhomes for family trips along the coast. Peer-to-peer sharing means more choice, more flexibility, and a genuinely local start to your island adventure.

Best time to visit

Mallorca welcomes travellers comfortably from April through October. Spring is ideal for the almond blossom season and the Fira del Ram fair in Palma, which runs from late March into May. September and October bring warm seas and the grape harvest festivities around Binissalem. Summer is the most popular period, so booking your campervan on Yescapa early gives you the widest choice from local owners at competitive peer-to-peer prices. Mallorca's mild autumn and spring temperatures make longer road trips especially enjoyable, with campsites across the island open and well serviced throughout the season.

Stop at the Mirador de ses Ànimes for panoramic views and visit the Carthusian monastery in Valldemossa. The winding roads suit a campervan well. Allow 3 to 4 days to enjoy Mallorca's mountain scenery at a relaxed pace.

East Coast Coves

60 km 3–6 days

Over roughly 60 km, explore Mallorca's east coast from Porto Cristo to Cala Rajada. Visit the Coves del Drac and relax at Cala Millor. The flat roads are well suited to a motorhome. In 3 to 5 days you can discover quiet coves and small fishing villages away from the main resorts.

Northern Island Loop

180 km 5–8 days

The mix of coast and mountains keeps the journey varied. In 5 to 7 days you can experience northern Mallorca in a campervan at a comfortable pace.

Grand Mallorca Circuit

350 km 6–9 days

Mallorca In-Depth Explorer

From Palma, head along the Tramuntana coast to Alcúdia, then cross Es Pla to Felanitx and return via Campos. Over 7 to 10 days, dive deep into Mallorca's rural heartland — a campervan gives you the flexibility for spontaneous stops at weekly markets and local wineries.

Mallorca Without Rushing

550 km 10–15 days

With 550 km and 10 to 14 days, explore every corner of the island. Start in Palma, drive the Tramuntana coast to Formentor, discover the Artà peninsula and Llevant nature reserve, visit the salt flats at Es Trenc and tour the wineries near Santa Maria del Camí. What you need to know about roads and motorways in Mallorca

Mallorca has no toll roads, so you can drive freely across the island without extra charges. The main motorway, the Ma-1, connects Palma to Inca and is well suited to motorhomes. Speed limits for vehicles over 3,500 kg are generally 80 km/h on dual carriageways and 90 km/h on motorways. Mountain roads in the Serra de Tramuntana are narrow with tight bends — a campervan is easier to handle here than a large motorhome. Rest areas and petrol stations are well distributed along major routes. Watch for height and width restrictions on some rural roads, and always check signage before entering old town centres.

Simone and his partner were very nice and friendly, eager to get to know everything about the motorhome. They were very attentive and considerate during the handover, as well as easy to communicate with throughout their trip. They treated my motorhome with care and respect and certainly did their best to return it in the condition in which they received it. It was a pleasure having them as my guests, and I highly recommend them to other owners.
