Why choose Wiesbaden for your road trip

Wiesbaden — a city worth exploring

Wiesbaden's Kurhaus, built in 1907 by architect Friedrich von Thiersch, remains one of Europe's most impressive spa buildings and sets the tone for this elegant Hessian capital. Nestled between the Taunus hills to the north and the Rhine to the south, Wiesbaden offers a rewarding mix of thermal springs, grand architecture, and leafy parkland. Stroll through the Warmer Damm park before visiting the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, an ornate neo-baroque venue hosting opera and ballet. The Nerobergbahn, a water-powered funicular railway dating from 1888, carries you up to the Neroberg for sweeping views across the city and river valley. History enthusiasts will appreciate the Museum Wiesbaden, home to an outstanding collection of expressionist art and natural history exhibits. Frankfurt am Main lies just 38 km to the east, while the romantic Rhine Valley town of Rüdesheim is only 32 km to the west — both make excellent day trips by campervan. The surrounding Rheingau wine region is well suited to motorhome touring, with gentle roads winding through vineyard-covered slopes. Through Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners in the Wiesbaden area, giving you a personal introduction to the region and the flexibility to explore at your own pace.

Best time to visit

Wiesbaden is a wonderful destination throughout the year. The Rheingau Wine Festival in August fills the city centre with local vintners and live music, while the Sternschnuppenmarkt Christmas market in December transforms the Schlossplatz and Dernsches Gelände into a festive wonderland. Spring and early summer bring comfortable temperatures ideal for campervan touring along the Rhine, and campsites in the Rheingau are easy to book. For the best choice of vehicles and competitive peer-to-peer pricing, browse Yescapa ahead of the summer months when Wiesbaden welcomes the most visitors.

Where to park your motorhome

Wiesbaden offers several options for parking larger vehicles. Overnight motorhome parking is permitted at designated stellplatz areas, though wild camping on public streets is not allowed. Always check posted height and length restrictions before entering multi-storey car parks, as most are unsuitable for motorhomes. The city's park-and-ride sites on the outskirts connect to the centre by bus, making them a practical choice for campervan travellers who want to explore on foot.

  • Wohnmobilstellplatz am Rheinufer (Mainz-Kastel), 5km east — Dedicated motorhome stellplatz near the Rhine with flat hardstanding, water supply, and waste disposal. Easy bus connection to the city centre.
  • P+R Parkplatz Mainzer Straße, 3km southeast — Park-and-ride facility with generous spaces suitable for campervans. Regular bus service into the pedestrian zone.

It was our 1st time in a Caravan, and we feel very fortunate that we have done it with Jeremy & Annabella, their Caravan is exactly as decribed in the pictures, in a perfect mechanical situation, we had 0 problens through the whole joirney, and we were 6 people in that Caravan, I have no doubt that we will reserve it again in the future. The check in and out went completely smoove with Jeremy, you can feel free to trust them!

Great, responsible, and responsive owner. Van is equipped as advertised. The refrigerator loses its battery fast when van is turned off, so it caused some issues overnight in hot weather. Cars engine is a bit weak when driving uphill, but never caused any real issues. Great choice if you want a small van for exploring towns and coast of Andalusia.

Absolutely recommended renter. Really kind and nice people. They gave back the van clean in and out, so big respect to you guys. Thanks for your rent.

Very nice camper that has a lot of comfort for travelling Mallorca. One star less due toSlow/difficult communication with the owner, who only started to confirm our messages/questions 1 day before the actual start of the trip, The fact that the agreed pick-up time was not respected (and not communicated before we arrived on the airport) and got delayed with 1,5 h.Do know that towels and linnen are available in the camper (or they were at least for us), so no need to bring them.

Fantastic experience renting Dirk’s camper van! Pick-up and drop-off were exactly as we wished—very flexible both in time and location, which we really appreciated. The van was perfect for four adults: spacious, spotlessly clean, and excellently equipped with everything we needed and more. It was also very easy to drive and everything worked perfectly. Dirk provided a very handy e-book with all the essential information about the van, which made everything even easier.A pure pleasure from beginning to end—we would definitely rent from Dirk again!

Sandro and gus were on hand to help with any issues that arose. Loads of power for the steep windy roads, the van was well equiped and comfortable . An extra blanket for parking at altetude was apreciated as it was cooler up the hills. Shower worked but not much hot water. We had a small scrape with another car and insurance sorted the third party but we lost some of our deposit to repair van. Sandro was very helpfull and there was no dramas. So maybe paying for comprehensive insurance would be a better plan in future.
