Frankfurt am Main's skyline is the only one in continental Europe that rivals Manhattan, earning it the nickname 'Mainhattan' — a fitting introduction to Germany's financial capital on the River Main. The Römerberg, Frankfurt's medieval central square, has been the heart of city life since the 9th century and remains a must-see with its half-timbered façades. Culture lovers will find the Städel Museum, home to over 3,000 paintings spanning 700 years, and the nearby Senckenberg Naturmuseum, one of Europe's largest natural history collections. A stroll along the Museumsufer (Museum Embankment) lines up over a dozen museums on both banks of the Main. For green space, the Palmengarten botanical garden covers 22 hectares of tropical and subtropical plants. Beyond the city, the Taunus hills begin just 20 km north, offering forested trails and panoramic views, while Heidelberg sits roughly 88 km south — an easy day trip through the Rhine-Main region. Frankfurt's road network is excellent for larger vehicles, with wide autobahn connections in every direction and well-signposted routes into the city centre. Hiring a campervan here means you can explore both the urban highlights and the surrounding countryside at your own pace. With Yescapa, you can rent directly from local owners across the Frankfurt area, giving you a personal touch and flexible pick-up options that suit your travel plans. Whether you arrive by motorhome or choose a compact campervan, Frankfurt is a brilliant base for discovering central Germany.
Frankfurt welcomes visitors year-round, with each season offering something special. The Museumsuferfest in late August draws over three million people to the riverbanks for art, music and food — book your campervan early for this popular weekend. Spring brings the Dippemess folk festival in April, one of the oldest fairs in the region, perfect for families. Summer is ideal for exploring the Taunus hills and Rhine Valley by motorhome, with long daylight hours and pleasant driving conditions. Autumn sees the Frankfurt Book Fair in October, the world's largest trade fair for books. Through Yescapa, you can often find better rates from local owners during quieter months like November or February, making a winter city break surprisingly affordable.

Just 35 km west, Wiesbaden offers elegant thermal springs and the grand Kurhaus. Stop in Eltville am Rhein along the way for its rose gardens and riverside wineries. Campervan-friendly parking spots along the Rhine give you a front-row seat to river views for an overnight stay.
Roughly 88 km south, Heidelberg awaits with its famous castle ruins and Germany's oldest university. Stroll across the Alte Brücke and through the old town to see the Studentenkarzer. The B3 road passes through the Bergstraße fruit-growing region — motorhome pitches sit right on the Neckar.
Head 150 km south-east to Würzburg, where the Romantic Road begins. Visit the UNESCO-listed Residenz and the Alte Mainbrücke, then follow the route through Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Dinkelsbühl. Campsites along the way offer solid facilities for campervans and larger vehicles alike.
Around 190 km south-west lies the northern Black Forest. Start in Baden-Baden with the Friedrichsbad and Lichtentaler Allee, then drive to the Mummelsee and along the Schwarzwaldhochstraße. Freudenstadt offers campsites surrounded by dense forest — a great base for exploring by campervan.
Kassel lies 260 km north, home to the UNESCO-listed Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe and its famous water features. Continue into the Weser Uplands: Hamelin draws visitors with its Pied Piper legend, while Bad Karlshafen charms with baroque architecture. Roads along the Weser are wide enough for motorhomes, with regular riverside stopovers.
Cologne sits 300 km north-west, offering the Cathedral, Museum Ludwig and the lively Südstadt quarter. En route, follow the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine Valley past the Loreley rock and Burg Rheinfels near St. Goar. The B9 along the Rhine has plenty of stopovers — plan a stop in Koblenz at the Deutsches Eck where the Moselle meets the Rhine.

In Frankfurt am Main, motorhomes and campervans follow standard road traffic rules: parking is allowed wherever it is not explicitly prohibited, provided your vehicle fits within height limits. Overnight stays in a vehicle on public car parks are tolerated for one night to restore driving fitness. Watch out for height barriers in multi-storey car parks — many are limited to 2.0 m. Dedicated motorhome parking areas offer the most relaxed option for an overnight stop.
It was our first time in campervan and we got everything we needed. The car was comfortable, economical and fully equipped. We spent an unforgettable week during the total eclipse, although it was almost impossible to find available space on camping sites at that time. But the car batteries did great job so we could park even without the electricity access. The car used 8,9 l/100 km even though we almost didn't use highways. Carlos was very nice and helpful, he made our trip convenient and safe. We definitely recommend Carlos and his vehicle!
There was a small hiccup at first with the reservation, but it was solved quickly and from there on it was total bliss. The motorhome is absolutely top-notch, and the service was really warm and friendly. Despite the language barrier (we didn't speak much Spanish and they didn't speak much English), everything went very smoothly. So there's no need to worry if you don't speak their language — they have the means and experience to handle it. At the handover they walked us through the motorhome and gave us some camping tips and tricks, which made our trip very enjoyable. A big plus was the air conditioner in the living quarters.
Fantastic Family Experience with a Wonderful Host! We are a family of four and could not be more satisfied with our experience. The owner, Martial, was exceptionally helpful throughout the entire process. Before booking, he answered all of our questions promptly and consistently catered to our needs. During our trip, he went out of his way to check in on us and offered fantastic local advice and recommendations on places to visit. The pickup and drop-off processes were both seamless and efficient. The van itself is in excellent condition, extremely well-maintained, spotless, and fully equipped with everything you might need for a great trip—with practically everything working perfectly. We were also deeply touched by Martial’s kindness in picking us up at the airport, which made the start of our trip so much easier.
We had a fantastic family road trip in Carlos’s motorhome, visiting Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Schwarzwald, and Europa-Park. The vehicle had a few minor scratches from previous rentals and was due for a routine service, but Carlos assured us upfront not to worry about them, and it didn't affect our trip at all. The motorhome was well-equipped—having the onboard air grill was an especially nice touch! Pickup and drop-off were quick, straightforward, and hassle-free. We highly recommend Carlos and his motorhome.
The vehicle picture are old and today's vehicle condition are quite different; there are signs of rust on the bodywork and early signs of mold on the inner tent of the upper bed; few scratches to the vehicle are present but they do no demine its functionalities. Despite the fact that everything works, It has been frustrating to pull and push the rear seat back especially at the beginning of the journey, then we get it right with the experience; I personally recommend having the fold/unfold mechanism inspected and fixed. Anyhow, it allowed us to have a wonderful vacation and the robust engine never left us unsupported. Antonio is very supportive and responsive; he helped us with the logistics and gave us a few tips to start the travel.
This was our first experience with a camper. Aurora and Cristian were very helpful and the rental process was very easy and fast. The camper is quite old, but is very well maintained and fully functional. I would recommend this camper. We didn't had any issues during our trip.
