Palma de Mallorca's Gothic cathedral, La Seu, took nearly 400 years to build and stands just metres from the Mediterranean shore. The city blends centuries of history with a lively waterfront atmosphere, making it a rewarding base for exploring the island by road. Stroll through the winding lanes of the Old Town to reach the Palau de l'Almudaina, a royal palace dating back to Moorish rule, then head to Es Baluard Museu d'Art Contemporani for panoramic views across the harbour. Families enjoy the Palma Aquarium, while food lovers gravitate towards the Mercat de l'Olivar for fresh local produce. Beyond the city, the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range begins roughly 15 km north, offering dramatic coastal roads ideal for a campervan adventure. Sóller sits 30 km north through a scenic mountain tunnel, and the sandy beaches of Es Trenc lie about 50 km to the south-east. Palma's ring road and well-maintained coastal routes make motorhome travel straightforward, though some mountain passes in the Tramuntana are narrow and worth planning around. With Yescapa, you can hire a vehicle directly from local owners in Palma de Mallorca, giving you insider tips and flexible pick-up options that suit your schedule. It is a practical, peer-to-peer way to start your Mallorca road trip right from the heart of the island's capital.
Palma de Mallorca welcomes visitors comfortably from April through October. The Festes de Sant Sebastià in January fill the city with open-air concerts and bonfires, while the Nit de l'Art in September turns galleries and streets into a free cultural celebration. Summer is the busiest period, so booking your campervan early through Yescapa gives you access to competitive peer-to-peer rates from local owners. Spring and autumn bring warm days ideal for driving the coastal and mountain routes without the peak-season crowds. Palma offers year-round mild conditions that suit motorhome travel well.
Palma de Mallorca is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 30 km north through the Sóller tunnel or over the scenic Coll de Sóller pass. Explore the town's Modernist architecture around Plaça de la Constitució and ride the vintage tram down to Port de Sóller. The harbour has campervan-friendly parking near the waterfront, and the surrounding orange groves make for a peaceful overnight stay.
Drive 60 km northeast to Alcúdia and walk the well-preserved medieval walls that encircle the old town. Visit the Pollentia Roman ruins just outside the gates, then spend an afternoon at Platja d'Alcúdia. Several campsites along the bay offer full hook-ups and direct beach access, making it easy to settle in for a couple of nights.
Travel 75 km east to Cala Rajada on the island's northeastern tip. Stop at the Coves d'Artà, a dramatic cave system near Canyamel, before reaching the fishing harbour. The Jardins de la Torre Cega offer a quiet stroll among sculptures. Roads here are wide and well-maintained, and motorhome parking is available near the lighthouse.
Head 55 km southeast to Cala d'Or and the nearby Parc Natural de Mondragó. Walk the coastal trail between Cala Mondragó and S'Amarador, two sheltered coves with turquoise water. The town of Santanyí, 10 km south, hosts a popular Wednesday market. Campervan parking areas near Mondragó fill up by midmorning in summer, so arrive early.
Cover 140 km northeast on a loop to Cap de Formentor, the island's northernmost point. Wind along the Ma-2210 cliff road past Mirador des Colomer for sweeping sea views, then descend to the lighthouse. Break the journey in Pollença, where the 365-step Calvari staircase leads to a hilltop chapel. Motorhome drivers should note the road narrows beyond the viewpoint.
Loop 110 km northwest through the Serra de Tramuntana, stopping at Valldemossa to visit the Real Cartuja monastery and at Deià for its clifftop artists' village. Continue to Sa Calobra, where a twisting descent leads to Torrent de Pareis gorge. Campervan-sized vehicles fit comfortably on most stretches, though a few mountain passes require low gear. Wild camping is not permitted, but designated areas near Lluc Monastery welcome overnight stays.

Palma de Mallorca and its surroundings offer a good selection of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Most are located along the coast or in the rural interior, with pitches featuring electrical hook-ups, fresh water, waste disposal and shower blocks. Several sites sit within easy reach of beaches, while inland options provide a quieter setting among almond and olive groves. Palma de Mallorca itself has limited urban camping, so the best facilities are found in nearby towns within a short drive.
Parking a motorhome or campervan in Palma de Mallorca requires a bit of planning, as the city centre has height and width restrictions on many underground car parks. Designated areas on the outskirts offer more space for larger vehicles. Overnight parking in public streets is generally tolerated if you remain self-contained and do not deploy awnings or levelling equipment. Always check local signage for time limits and market-day restrictions. We recommend arriving early during peak season to secure a spot close to the centre.
Pepe was lovely from beginning to end. All of our requests were accommodated and he was responsive when needed. The pickup service was very nice, even though we were a bit delayed at the beginning (also around 23.30) he still patiently waited for us at the airport without a hassle. This made the beginning of the trip very nice and the small gift was consumed almost immediately, thank you once again. ;) The van was super also, the bad is very very comfy, I am 183 cms and it was perfect for my height. The AC is a very nice addition also, which made even the staying in the blazing sun bearable in the van. Would recommend both the host and the van to anyone!
We had a superb long weekend trip in Gonçalo’s converted van and couldn’t be happier with the experience. Gonçalo was a very friendly owner and always responded promptly to all our questions, which made everything easy and stress-free from the beginning. The van came with everything we needed and was very well prepared for our trip. It was comfortable, practical, and perfectly suited for our family of four. Gonçalo was also incredibly helpful throughout, which we really appreciated. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend both Gonçalo and his van to anyone looking for a great family campervan experience.
Perfect. Everything went smoothly, good communication, owners very friendly, the vehicle was just as described and in very good condition. We can definitely recommend for future renters!
Mathieu was easy to communicate with and flexible. The van is perfect- simple, well organized, and very comfortable for sleeping. Mathieu equips the kitchen with some basics, and 2 camping chairs- it is really nice.
We had a great Motorhome Experience in the Dordogne area in France! Guy’s motorhome had everything we needed for a comfortable and adventurous stay. A great kingsize bed (for a motorhome anyway…) and large fridge, warm water, heating everything is there. If you’re looking for a reliable modern motorhome rental , we highly recommend renting Guy’s motorhome. Marian & Wim.
