Belgium packs over 30,000 km of paved roads into a country just 280 km from coast to border, making it one of Europe's most accessible destinations for a road trip. From the 67-kilometre coastline along the North Sea — the longest tram route in the world runs its full length — to the dense forests of the Ardennes in the south, the landscape shifts remarkably within short drives. The Grand Place in Brussels, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, sits roughly 115 km from the medieval canals of Bruges, while the Citadel of Namur overlooks the confluence of the Sambre and Meuse rivers just 65 km further south-east. History enthusiasts can visit the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres or explore the Bastogne War Museum, both deeply tied to the World Wars. Belgium's compact size means you can cross from Flanders' flat polders to the rolling hills of Wallonia in under two hours, yet each region has its own language, cuisine, and character. Motorways connect major cities efficiently, and smaller scenic roads wind through hop fields, abbey towns, and river valleys ideal for campervan travel. A motorhome gives you the freedom to linger at a Trappist brewery or wake up near a forest trail without rushing between hotels. Through Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners spread across Belgium's provinces, choosing from campervans, motorhomes, and converted vans that suit your group and your route.
Belgium is a year-round destination, but May to September offers the longest days and warmest temperatures for campervan travel. The Gentse Feesten in Ghent each July transforms the city into a ten-day open-air festival, while the Ducasse de Mons in June is a UNESCO-listed procession worth planning around. Spring brings blooming Hallerbos — the famous bluebell forest near Brussels — and autumn colours light up the Ardennes. Campsites across Belgium are generally open from April to October, with full facilities. Booking through Yescapa during shoulder months like May or September often means better availability and more competitive peer-to-peer rates compared to peak summer weeks.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Starting in Brussels, this 180 km loop connects Ghent, Bruges, and Antwerp — three cities packed with world-class art and architecture. Pause at Ghent's Saint Bavo's Cathedral to see the Ghent Altarpiece, then drive 50 km to Bruges for its canal-side charm. A campervan makes it easy to park on the outskirts and explore each centre on foot.
Follow the River Meuse for 150 km from Namur to Dinant and on to Bouillon. The Citadel of Dinant towers above the river, and Bouillon's medieval castle is one of Belgium's oldest. Narrow riverside roads suit a campervan well, with several small campsites dotted along the valley offering riverside pitches and basic hook-ups.
This 300 km route winds through the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, from Spa to La Roche-en-Ardenne, Bastogne, and the Hautes Fagnes nature reserve. Dense forests, open moorland, and quiet villages define the landscape. Motorhome-friendly aires are available near Bastogne, and the roads are well-maintained even through hilly terrain.
Covering 350 km across Belgium, this route visits Trappist abbeys and renowned breweries: Chimay in Hainaut, Orval near Florenville, Rochefort's abbey, and Westmalle in Antwerp province. Between stops, the countryside offers rolling farmland and quiet lanes. Campsites near each abbey town welcome campervans and motorhomes with full facilities.
This 550 km circuit covers Belgium from north to south: Brussels, Leuven, Hasselt, Liège, the Ardennes, Namur, Mons, and back. It blends Flemish and Walloon culture, city architecture, and rural scenery. With a motorhome, you can take your time at each stop, using well-equipped campsites in every province along the way.
At 600 km, this route traces Belgium's borders: from the North Sea coast at De Panne, south through Ypres and the Westhoek war memorials, east to the German-speaking cantons around Eupen, and north via the Kempen heathlands near Turnhout. It reveals the diversity of Belgium's edges. Campervan-friendly stops and aires are plentiful along the entire route.

Belgium offers a wide range of campsites spread across its three regions, from coastal pitches along the North Sea to forest clearings deep in the Ardennes. Many sites cater to both campervans and motorhomes with electric hook-ups, modern sanitary blocks, and dedicated service points for waste disposal. In Flanders, you will find well-organised sites near cycling networks, while Wallonia's campsites often sit beside rivers or within walking distance of hiking trails. Facilities vary from basic farm stays to full-service parks with Wi-Fi and on-site shops.
Belgium's motorway network is extensive and entirely toll-free for vehicles under 3.5 tonnes, which covers most campervans. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes must register for the Viapass system, an electronic toll based on distance, emission class, and weight. Speed limits on motorways are 120 km/h for cars, but motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are restricted to 90 km/h. Belgian motorways are famously well-lit at night, making evening driving straightforward. Rest areas with services appear regularly along major routes like the E40 and E411. Be aware that low-emission zones (LEZ) operate in Brussels, Antwerp, and Ghent — check your vehicle's emission standard before entering these cities.
We had a great Motorhome Experience in the Dordogne area in France! Guy’s motorhome had everything we needed for a comfortable and adventurous stay. A great kingsize bed (for a motorhome anyway…) and large fridge, warm water, heating everything is there. If you’re looking for a reliable modern motorhome rental , we highly recommend renting Guy’s motorhome. Marian & Wim.
Excellent guests. We arranged everything quickly and smoothly, and communication was very easy. They returned the van in great condition, so we highly recommend them. 😊
Julie and her partner were absolutely wonderful guests. It was a pleasure to meet them. They were very friendly, respectful, and easy to communicate with throughout the rental. They returned the campervan in excellent condition, clean and well cared for. We would be very happy to welcome them again in the future and can highly recommend them to other owners. Thank you for choosing us, and we wish you many great adventures ahead!
Sofia and Joaqim were really lovely! We enjoyed our trip a lot. The van was clean and had everything that was listed. We had no troubles with anything, it was super easy, convenient and cosy place to stay. We can honestly recommend it. 🥰❤️
It was our first time traveling with a camper, and renting this one for our trip around Mallorca turned out to be an absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience that exceeded all our expectations. The camper was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Everything was well-maintained and thoughtfully equipped, which made our first camper trip easy and enjoyable. Communication with Gustavo was excellent from start to finish. He always responded very quickly, was friendly and helpful, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. He also shared some fantastic recommendations for places to visit and park around the island, which made our trip even better. We couldn't have asked for a better first camper experience and would highly recommend both the camper and Gustavo to anyone planning a trip to Mallorca. We would happily rent it again in the future!
It was perfect. The owner is a very nice guy who picked us up from Funchal to get to Machico and explained everything about the car. The car included everything that was needed for our roadtrip. The tent is spacious and the amenities were of good quality. Overall it was an amazing experience to enjoy the island this way!
