Wallonia stretches across 16,844 square kilometres of southern Belgium, where the Ardennes forest covers nearly half the territory and rises to 694 metres at the Signal de Botrange, the country's highest point. From the medieval citadel of Dinant perched above the Meuse river to the famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, this French-speaking region rewards slow travel. The distance from Tournai in the west to Arlon near the Luxembourg border is roughly 240 km, while Namur to Liège covers about 65 km along the Meuse valley — both routes lined with abbeys, châteaux and riverside villages. Wallonia's landscape is ideal for campervan touring: rolling farmland in Hainaut gives way to deep river gorges around Bouillon, and the Hautes Fagnes plateau offers open moorland rarely found elsewhere in western Europe. The Caves of Han-sur-Lesse draw visitors underground, while the UNESCO-listed Belfry of Mons stands tall above the Grand-Place. Whether you prefer a compact campervan for winding Ardennes lanes or a larger motorhome for well-equipped aires along the E411, Yescapa connects you with local owners across Wallonia who share their vehicles peer-to-peer — giving you flexible pick-up points in cities like Namur, Charleroi and Liège, and a choice of vehicles suited to the region's mix of open motorways and narrow country roads.
Wallonia welcomes campervan travellers from spring right through to autumn. May and June bring wildflower displays across the Hautes Fagnes, while the Ducasse de Mons — a UNESCO-recognised festival — fills the city streets on Trinity Sunday each year. In August, the Fêtes de Wallonie in Namur celebrate regional culture with parades and open-air concerts. Summer is the busiest period, so booking your vehicle early on Yescapa gives you the widest choice from local owners at competitive peer-to-peer rates. Autumn transforms the Ardennes into a mosaic of copper and gold, perfect for quieter touring with fewer crowds on the road.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Follow the Meuse river from Namur to Dinant and on to Hastière, covering around 180 km through Wallonia's heartland. Stop at the Citadel of Dinant for panoramic views, then explore the Abbey of Maredsous and its famous cheese. This route suits a campervan perfectly, with riverside aires and gentle roads throughout.
A 150 km loop through western Wallonia linking Mons, Ath and Tournai. Visit the Doudou festival grounds in Mons, the medieval Belfry of Tournai and the boat lifts on the Canal du Centre — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Flat terrain makes this route ideal for larger motorhomes and first-time drivers.
This 280 km circuit through Wallonia's Ardennes passes Bouillon's medieval castle, the riverside town of La Roche-en-Ardenne and the Semois valley viewpoints. Wind through dense forest roads and stop at local brasseries. A campervan handles the narrow lanes well, and campsites with full hook-ups are plentiful along the route.
Covering 350 km, this route connects the Lac de l'Eau d'Heure — Belgium's largest lake complex — with the Lesse and Ourthe river valleys. Kayak at Coo waterfall, visit the Caves of Han-sur-Lesse and camp beside the Lac de Nisramont. Ideal for families in a motorhome, with waterside pitches and swimming spots throughout Wallonia.
A 520 km grand loop starting in Liège, heading south through Stavelot and Bastogne, west to Chimay and north via Charleroi back to Liège. Take in the Stavelot Abbey, the Bastogne War Museum and the Trappist brewery at Chimay. This comprehensive Wallonia tour suits both campervans and motorhomes, with diverse landscapes and well-spaced campsites.
This 600 km route spans Wallonia from Tournai to Arlon, taking in the Grand-Hornu mining site, the gardens of Annevoie, Durbuy — often called the smallest city in the world — and the Gaume countryside near the French border. Allow two weeks to enjoy local markets, forest walks and abbey visits. A motorhome with full facilities makes extended touring comfortable.

Wallonia offers a wide range of campsites spread from the flat plains of Hainaut to the forested hills of the Ardennes. Many sites along the Meuse and Semois rivers provide waterside pitches with electric hook-ups, fresh water and modern sanitary blocks. Whether you arrive in a compact campervan or a full-size motorhome, you will find sites with spacious pitches, waste disposal points and family-friendly facilities including playgrounds and on-site shops.
Wallonia's motorway network is toll-free, making it budget-friendly for campervan and motorhome travel. Major routes like the E411 (Brussels–Luxembourg) and E42 (Liège–Tournai) are well-maintained dual carriageways with regular rest areas. Speed limits for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are 90 km/h on motorways and 60 km/h in built-up areas. Larger motorhomes should note height restrictions in some older tunnels near Liège. The region also uses the Viapass system for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes on certain roads — check eligibility before departure. Secondary roads through the Ardennes are narrower but well-signposted, with frequent laybys for breaks.
We had a really nice experience with Egoi’s van! Traveled from Bilbao to Cantabria and Asturias, from Picos de Europa to the coastal of the ocean. The van was clean, safe and comfortable. Egoi is a very helpful and good person!
Amazing guests! Communication was excellent from beginning to end, they treated the campervan with great care and everything went perfectly throughout the rental.Very friendly, respectful and easy-going people. They also returned the van super clean, which was really appreciated. The whole experience was smooth and stress-free and I would happily rent to them again anytime.Highly recommended!
Renting Gabriel’s van was honestly one of the best parts of my trip. The van has so much personality and charm — it felt cozy, reliable, and full of good energy from the moment I picked it up. I loved waking up in different places, making coffee with amazing views, and having the freedom to go wherever I wanted.Gabriel was amazing as well. Super kind, easygoing, and always available if I needed anything. He explained everything clearly and made me feel comfortable straight away. This isn’t just a camper van, it’s an experience. You can tell it has been loved and cared for. I left with beautiful memories and would absolutely rent it again without hesitation.Thank you Gabriel for sharing your little home on wheels with me :)
Ragazzi fantastici, siamo diventati amici, hanno restituito il van in perfette condizioni! Grazie mille ragazzi e alla prossima!
Great experience renting with a child and a dog. Carina was an amazing host—always in touch and very supportive. She even met us before the payment to check if our larger car seat would fit the Isofix, and she welcomed our dog for free, even giving us a nice blanket for him.The camper was in good condition. The only downside was having just one gas bottle instead of the usual two. It ran out unexpectedly at night, and since gas bottles were not available at the gas stations along our way, we couldn't get a replacement. As a result, we spent the last 2.5 days of our trip without heating or the stove. Other than that, everything was perfect. Highly recommended!
