Why choose Fort Worth for your road trip

Fort Worth — a city worth exploring

Fort Worth's Stockyards National Historic District hosts the world's only twice-daily cattle drive, a tradition running since 1866 along East Exchange Avenue. The city sits at the edge of the Great Plains, where the Trinity River winds through over 100 parks and green spaces, making it a rewarding base for exploring by road. The Kimbell Art Museum, designed by Louis Kahn, houses works by Caravaggio and Michelangelo, while the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth holds one of the largest collections of post-war art in the United States. Families love the Fort Worth Zoo, consistently ranked among the top five in the country, and the Fort Worth Botanic Garden offers 44 hectares of themed gardens to wander through. Dallas is just 50 km east along Interstate 30, and Waco sits 145 km south, giving you plenty of options for day trips or longer adventures. The road network around Fort Worth is well suited to larger vehicles, with wide highways and accessible campsite options in every direction. Hiring a campervan or motorhome through Yescapa connects you directly with local owners, so you can pick up your vehicle nearby and hit the road without the hassle of a big depot. With a campervan from a trusted local, you get insider tips and a personal touch that makes your Fort Worth trip feel easy from the start.

Best time to visit

Fort Worth shines from March to May, when the Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each April. Autumn is equally appealing, with the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering in late October celebrating western heritage through music and rodeo. Summer is the busiest season for campervan travel, so we recommend booking your hire on Yescapa early to lock in the best choice from local owners. Fort Worth winters are mild, making it a comfortable time to explore with fewer crowds and competitive peer-to-peer pricing on motorhome rentals.

We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend this campervan. We explored Annecy, Lake Geneva and the Jura.

The owner Charlotte was super helpful and very kind. The van worked out perfectly for us as we followed the Tour de France around for a few days. The van has enough room to be comfortable and small enough to navigate the skinny French streets. Fully equipped with anything you would need. A great experience, thanks Charlotte!
