New York's iconic grid system spans five boroughs across 783 square kilometres, making it one of the most densely packed cities on the planet. From the 340-metre-high observation deck at the Empire State Building to the winding paths of Central Park's 341 hectares, there is no shortage of landmarks to explore before hitting the road. The Brooklyn Bridge, completed in 1883, connects Manhattan to Brooklyn and remains one of the most photographed structures in the country. Culture lovers can spend hours at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, home to over two million works, or catch a performance at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. For something more offbeat, head to the High Line, a 2.3-kilometre elevated park built on a disused railway. Philadelphia sits roughly 150 km to the south-west, while the beaches of Montauk are about 190 km to the east — both make excellent campervan excursions from the city. New York's surrounding highways and state parks offer surprisingly good access for motorhome travel once you leave the urban core. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from a local owner in the greater New York area, often picking up your vehicle in quieter neighbourhoods where parking and logistics are far simpler. It is a peer-to-peer approach that keeps costs reasonable and gives you insider tips from someone who knows the region first-hand.
New York is a year-round destination, but late spring and early autumn are especially rewarding for campervan travel. The Tribeca Film Festival in June fills the city with creative energy, while the New York City Marathon in November draws visitors from around the globe. Summer is the most popular season for motorhome trips along the coast, so we recommend booking your Yescapa hire early to secure the best choice of vehicles. Autumn brings comfortable driving temperatures and spectacular foliage across upstate New York, ideal for exploring campgrounds in the Hudson Valley and Catskills.

Camping options around New York range from waterfront sites with skyline views to wooded retreats in the surrounding hills. Most campgrounds within an hour's drive offer electric hook-ups, water points, showers and dump stations suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. If you are looking for a base close to the city, the New Jersey shoreline and Long Island's state parks provide convenient access without the urban congestion.
Parking a larger vehicle in New York City requires planning. Street parking for motorhomes and campervans is heavily restricted in Manhattan, with most streets enforcing alternate-side rules. Overnight parking in the city is generally not permitted for recreational vehicles. Your best option is to use dedicated RV-friendly facilities on the outskirts or across the river in New Jersey, where spaces are wider and regulations more accommodating.
100% recommend. Such a kind and welcoming family. Everything was explained in detail when we arrived so we understood how everything worked onboard. The RV itself is stunning and has everything you need included. We were 2 adults and 2 kids (8 and 4) that spent 2 weeks traveling through northern Spain. Plenty of sleeping space, kitchen was large enough to prepare meals indoors if need be. The engine was powerful enough through the mountains and the size of the RV we had no problems navigating the narrow mountain roads and town. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
Alles super, Fahrzeug, Vermieter und Ablauf!
We had the best trip with the van "Fiona" we rented by Cuca - the most amazing host. There was no problems with the van, and it was driving great for an old car. The van also had everything we needed like a portabel shower, a sink with running water, a cooler and a much needed parasol. Cuca recommended the best beaches and places, and responded quickly to any questions we had. We cant recommend Cuca and the van enough!
Everything went perfectly, the van was just what we wanted for our trip, would do it again.
Great
