From sleek A-class models to versatile coachbuilts and low-profiles, there’s a motorhome for every adventure—whether you need a compact getaway for two or a spacious multi-berth for the whole family.
The campervan is the ultimate all-rounder. Effortlessly practical and built for freedom, it’s just as at home navigating tight city streets as it is exploring the heart of the countryside.
The Calanques stretch across 20 kilometres of limestone coastline between Marseille and Cassis, forming one of Europe's few periurban national parks, established in 2012. This narrow band of turquoise inlets and white cliffs sits at the edge of France's second-largest city, making it remarkably easy to reach yet wonderfully wild once you arrive. From the deep fjord-like Calanque d'En-Vau to the pine-fringed shores of Calanque de Sormiou, each inlet has its own character and access trail. The drive from Marseille's Vieux-Port to the harbour town of Cassis covers just 23 km along the D559, while heading inland from Cassis to the hilltop village of Aubagne is only 18 km — ideal distances for a campervan trip without long hours behind the wheel. Beyond the coast, the Massif des Calanques offers over 140 km of marked hiking paths through garrigue scrubland, and the Col de la Gineste road provides sweeping views down to the sea. Climbers flock to the towering walls above En-Vau, while kayakers paddle between inlets inaccessible by road. Exploring the Calanques in a motorhome lets you set your own rhythm, waking up near the trailhead one morning and by a harbour the next. Through Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners based around Marseille, Cassis, and Aubagne, choosing from compact vans perfect for narrow coastal lanes to larger vehicles suited for families. It is a peer-to-peer approach that keeps costs fair and puts local knowledge at your fingertips from the moment you collect the keys.
The Calanques are at their best from April to October, with spring wildflowers carpeting the trails and autumn offering warm seas without the summer crowds. The Fête de la Saint-Eloi in late June brings traditional Provençal celebrations to Cassis, while the Marseille Jazz des Cinq Continents festival lights up July with open-air concerts. Summer is peak season, so we recommend booking your campervan on Yescapa well ahead to lock in the widest choice of vehicles from local owners. Note that access to several calanques is restricted on high fire-risk days between June and September — check the Préfecture website each morning before heading out. Outside peak months, you will find more availability at campsites and quieter trails, and Yescapa's peer-to-peer model often means friendlier rates during shoulder season.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This compact 80 km loop over 3–5 days links Cassis, Calanque de Port-Miou, and La Ciotat. Perfect for a campervan, the route follows quiet coastal lanes with stops for swimming and cliff walks. Campsites near Cassis offer full hook-ups for overnight stays.
Cover 150 km in 3–6 days along the coast from Marseille's Vieux-Port through Cassis and on to Bandol's vineyards. The D559 hugs the shoreline, passing Calanque de Sormiou and the fishing port of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer. Ideal for both campervans and motorhomes.
A 280 km route over 5–8 days exploring the Calanques coastline and the hilltop towns of Aubagne and Gémenos before looping to the Sainte-Baume massif. Motorhome-friendly campsites dot the route, and the mix of coast and forest keeps every day fresh.
This 350 km circuit over 5–8 days connects Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, and Avignon, blending the Calanques coast with lavender-scented inland Provence. Stop at the Pont du Gard and Cours Mirabeau. A campervan gives you flexibility between city stopovers and rural pitches.
Spanning 500 km over 7–11 days, this route traces the coast from Toulon through the Calanques to the Camargue wetlands. Highlights include Hyères, Cassis, and the flamingo lagoons of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. Suited to motorhomes with plenty of seaside aires along the way.
A 600 km adventure over 10–15 days from the Calanques to Mont Ventoux and the Gorges du Verdon. Begin in Marseille, wind through Aix-en-Provence and the Luberon villages, then climb to Ventoux's summit. A campervan handles the mountain passes comfortably with well-placed campsites throughout.

The area around the Calanques offers a good spread of campsites, from coastal pitches near Cassis and La Ciotat to quieter inland spots in the hills behind Aubagne and Gémenos. Most sites provide electrical hook-ups, water points, and waste disposal suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Several are open year-round, and many include swimming pools, Wi-Fi, and shaded pitches beneath pine and olive trees — a welcome feature during the warmer months.
Most roads around the Calanques are departmental routes rather than motorways. The A50 autoroute connects Marseille to Aubagne and Cassis, with tolls payable by card or cash at barrier booths — expect around €2 for the short stretch. Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes must observe a speed limit of 110 km/h on autoroutes and 80 km/h on single-carriageway roads. The D559 coast road between Marseille and Cassis is scenic but narrow in places, so larger vehicles should take extra care on bends. Rest areas along the A50 have dedicated spaces for campervans and motorhomes, making it easy to stop and plan your next move.

Ok
We had a truly wonderful experience with Tobia and his motorhome. The vehicle was in perfect condition, practically like new, very clean, comfortable, and extremely well maintained. It was the perfect companion for our summer family trip and gave us everything we needed for a fantastic camping experience. From even before the pick-up, communication with Tobia was excellent. He was always responsive, helpful, and genuinely did his best to solve any issues, provide us with all the information we needed, and take our particular situation into consideration. We really appreciated his kindness and flexibility throughout the whole rental. The motorhome itself was very comfortable to drive and surprisingly fuel-efficient, which was a big plus during our long trip. We spent several weeks travelling with it as a family, and it truly made our summer holiday very special and memorable. I would highly recommend both Tobia and this motorhome to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable and enjoyable camping experience. We would definitely choose this motorhome again for our next trip. Thank you, Tobia, for helping make our family holiday such a great experience!
Todo genial. Gracias
