Brussels' Atomium has towered 102 metres over the city since 1958, a leftover from the World Expo that became one of Europe's most recognisable landmarks. The Belgian capital blends Art Nouveau architecture with a forward-looking cultural scene, and getting around by campervan lets you set your own pace. Stroll through the Grand-Place, a UNESCO World Heritage Site framed by gilded guild houses, then head to the Magritte Museum to explore the world's largest collection of the surrealist painter's work. The Royal Palace of Brussels opens its doors each summer, while the Parc du Cinquantenaire offers green space and three museums under one triumphal arch. Bruges sits just 97 km to the north-west, and the university city of Leuven is only 26 km to the east — both make for easy day trips. Brussels is compact, yet its ring road and well-signed motorways make it straightforward to navigate in a motorhome. Beyond the centre, leafy suburbs give way to the rolling Brabant countryside, ideal for overnight stops. With Yescapa, you can hire a vehicle directly from a local owner, which often means flexible pick-up points across the city and personalised tips on where to go. Whether you are planning a weekend city break or using Brussels as a launchpad for a longer European tour, a campervan from a fellow traveller is a great way to start.
Brussels welcomes visitors year-round, but late spring through early autumn is especially rewarding for campervan travel. The Ommegang pageant in July recreates a Renaissance procession through the Grand-Place, while the Brussels Summer Festival fills August with open-air concerts across the city. Campsite availability is best when you book ahead for the June-to-September window, the most popular period. Outside peak months, autumn brings the Belgian Beer Weekend in September and quieter roads. With Yescapa, peer-to-peer pricing often makes shoulder-season hire even more affordable, so consider a spring or early-autumn trip for a relaxed Brussels experience.
Brussels is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 100 km west from Brussels to reach Bruges, the medieval jewel of Flanders. Stop in Ghent along the way to visit St Bavo's Cathedral and Gravensteen Castle. In Bruges, stroll along the canals and explore the Groeninge Museum. Campervan parking is available on the outskirts with regular bus connections into the historic centre.
Just 50 km south of Brussels lies the historic battlefield of Waterloo, where you can climb the Lion's Mound and visit the Memorial 1815 museum. Continue south to Nivelles and its Romanesque Collegiate Church of Sainte-Gertrude. The route follows well-maintained roads, and the Lion's Mound has a large car park suitable for motorhomes.
About 30 km east of Brussels, Leuven is home to one of Europe's oldest universities and a magnificent Gothic town hall. From there, drive 35 km north-west to Mechelen, where St Rumbold's Cathedral rises 97 metres above the city. Both towns have compact centres perfect for walking. Edge-of-town car parks accommodate campervans easily.
Around 150 km south-east of Brussels, the Ardennes unfold with dense forests and deep river valleys. Visit the fortress town of Dinant on the Meuse and the Caves of Han-sur-Lesse. Further south, reach Bouillon and its medieval castle perched above the Semois river. The winding roads are well-maintained, and numerous campsites along the river valleys offer pitches for motorhomes.
Drive 200 km north from Brussels via Antwerp to the Belgian North Sea coast. In Antwerp, visit the Museum aan de Stroom and the Cathedral of Our Lady. On the coast, Ostend offers a long sandy beach, while De Haan charms with its Belle Époque architecture. Coastal campsites provide pitches with sea views, ideal for a campervan stay of several nights.
Set off from Brussels and drive roughly 310 km south through the Ardennes to Luxembourg City and the Moselle Valley. Explore the Bock Casemates and Luxembourg's UNESCO-listed old town. Along the Moselle, discover wine villages such as Remich and Schengen. The route follows well-maintained motorways and country roads. Campsites along the Moselle offer peaceful pitches overlooking vineyards, perfect for a motorhome stay.

Around Brussels, you will find campsites suited to both campervans and larger motorhomes. Most are located in the green belt surrounding the city or in neighbouring municipalities, offering electrical hook-ups, sanitary facilities, and Wi-Fi. Several sites also have playgrounds and small shops. Good public transport links make day trips into central Brussels easy and convenient.
Brussels offers several parking options suitable for motorhomes and campervans. The city centre operates timed parking zones, so Park and Ride facilities on the outskirts are a practical alternative. Overnight parking in your vehicle is generally not permitted on public streets in Brussels — use nearby campsites instead. Watch out for height restrictions in multi-storey car parks, which are often limited to 1.90 metres.
If you’re looking for the perfect camper van, look no further! Sylvia’s van exceeded all of our expectations. It was spotless, incredibly comfortable, and equipped with absolutely everything we could possibly need. You can immediately tell how much care and attention Sylvia puts into making sure her guests have the best possible experience. What really made the difference was Sylvia herself. She was exceptionally kind, welcoming, and always quick to respond, making us feel supported from the moment we booked until the end of our trip. Thanks to her amazing van, we had an unforgettable adventure and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We would happily rent from Sylvia again and recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a reliable host and a fantastic camper van.
I loved tripping around the island with this van. It is equipped with many accessories as described, and some basic food condiments to get you started. Sleeping was comfortable, and handling the van itself too!
Jack and his girlfriend were amazing. The communication with them was really smooth and they took really good care of the van. Would welcome them again anytime and would recommend them to anyone!
The camper van is super confortable with everything you might need along your stay. The beds are super comfy and kitchen and bathroom are very well equipped. Diana also helped us with recommendations and was super kind and attentive to our messages! Thanks Diana :)
We had a fantastic trip in Joao's campervan. It was fully equipped with everything we needed. Every window has a mosquito screen, making it very easy to ventilate the van. It is also a very pleasant and reliable vehicle; we had no trouble driving up steep roads. It is an excellent campervan for 'off-grid' travel, as it comes with hot water, a large fridge, a toilet, ample water, and a large gas supply. We also never had any issues with the electricity, thanks to the solar panel. All windows can be blacked out at night. We highly recommend Joao's campervan. Communication was smooth throughout, too! Thank you very much!
Vincenzo was super vriendelijk, behulpzaam en kwam zijn afspraken na. De camper was compleet en deed het fantastisch. We hebben erg genoten van onze reis.
