Why choose Berlin for your road trip

Berlin — a city worth exploring

Berlin's Brandenburg Gate has stood as a symbol of unity since 1791, welcoming millions through its neoclassical columns each year. The German capital stretches across 891 square kilometres, making it one of Europe's largest cities and a fantastic base for exploring by campervan. From the East Side Gallery — the longest remaining stretch of the Berlin Wall at 1.3 km — to the towering Berlin Television Tower at Alexanderplatz, history and modernity sit comfortably side by side. Culture lovers can spend hours at Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site home to the Pergamon Museum and the Alte Nationalgalerie. For green spaces, Tiergarten park offers over 200 hectares of woodland and lakes right in the city centre. Potsdam, with its grand Sanssouci Palace, lies just 35 km southwest, while the Spreewald biosphere reserve is roughly 100 km southeast — both ideal for day trips. Berlin's wide boulevards and well-maintained roads make navigating in a motorhome straightforward, even for first-timers. Through Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across the city, which means flexible pick-up points and a personal touch you won't find elsewhere. Whether you're planning a weekend city break or using Berlin as a launchpad for a longer road trip, a campervan gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace.

Best time to visit

Berlin is a year-round destination, with each season offering something special. Summer brings the Karneval der Kulturen in June, a colourful street festival celebrating the city's diversity, while the Berlin Festival of Lights in October transforms landmarks into open-air art installations. From May to September, long daylight hours make it easy to explore by campervan, and campsite availability around the city is excellent. Autumn and winter have their own charm — the famous Christmas markets at Gendarmenmarkt run from late November through December. Booking through Yescapa gives you access to competitive peer-to-peer pricing, especially outside peak summer months when local owners often offer great rates. Plan ahead for July and August to secure your preferred vehicle.

Magnifique. If Stephane says you’ll have everything you need, trust him. You will. And in the best condition. Everything is top notch. Stephane is incredibly helpful, respectful and polite. He is like a tour guide. The van? Exceptional . Great engine, great consumption. Comfortable. Clean as new. He told me “ all you have to do is hit the road”. I did. And thanks to him and his camper van, I am not exaggerating, I had a great experience. I even had some issues down the road (looking for camper services or so) and he gladly and promptly helped. Before, during and after the rental. And in several languages! (I’ve met people that avoids renting in a different country because of the language barriers. You will not even get that) I ran out of stars for him and the experience.
