The campervan is the ultimate all-rounder. Effortlessly practical and built for freedom, it’s just as at home navigating tight city streets as it is exploring the heart of the countryside.
Bastia's Place Saint-Nicolas stretches 280 metres along the seafront, making it one of the largest squares in France and the beating heart of this Corsican port city. The old harbour, known as the Vieux Port, is lined with colourful buildings that reflect off the water, while the Citadelle perched above holds the Palais des Gouverneurs and the Musée de Bastia, which traces the island's history from antiquity to the present day. The twin-towered Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste dominates the harbour skyline and is the largest church in Corsica. Wander through the Terra Vecchia quarter to find artisan shops and local eateries tucked into narrow lanes. Beyond the city, Cap Corse — a rugged peninsula stretching 40 km north — offers dramatic coastal drives with hairpin bends and tiny fishing villages. Corte, the historic mountain capital of Corsica, sits 69 km south and makes a rewarding day trip through the island's interior gorges. Bastia is well connected by ferry to mainland France and Italy, so it serves as a natural starting point for exploring the whole island on wheels. With a motorhome or campervan, you can set your own pace along the winding coastal roads. Through Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners in Bastia and across Corsica, which means personal tips on the best routes and a more affordable, peer-to-peer way to travel.
Bastia welcomes visitors comfortably from April through October. The Fêtes de la Saint-Jean in late June fill the old town with bonfires, music and processions, while Les Musicales de Bastia in early November bring classical concerts to historic venues across the city. Spring and early autumn are ideal for campervan travel, with quieter roads around Cap Corse and easy access to campsites. Summer is the most popular season, so we recommend booking your vehicle on Yescapa well in advance to lock in the best choice from local owners. Peer-to-peer hire often means more flexible pick-up options and competitive rates compared to peak-season pricing.
Bastia is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Cap Corse starts just north of Bastia and stretches 80 km along a narrow peninsula. Visit the Genoese tower at Erbalunga and the harbour of Centuri, famous for its lobster catch. The coastal D80 road is winding – a campervan lets you stop at every cove. Pitches are available in Macinaggio for overnight stays.
Just 55 km south of Bastia, the Castagniccia is a forested region filled with chestnut groves. Discover the Couvent d'Orezza and the village of La Porta with its striking Baroque bell tower. Roads are narrow but manageable in a campervan. Parking is available at village squares along the route.
The 150 km drive from Bastia to Corte takes you into the heart of Corsica. Corte was the island's historic capital and houses the Musée de la Corse within its citadel. From there, hike into the Gorges de la Restonica to reach the mountain lakes of Melo and Capitello. The N193 is well-maintained. Motorhome pitches are available on the outskirts of Corte.
Around 170 km south-west of Bastia, Porto greets you with its Genoese tower and the Gulf of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Calanques de Piana impress with red granite cliffs above the sea. Stop at the Scala di Santa Regina gorge along the way. The D84 is winding – a campervan is the best choice here. Camping is available right in Porto.
The 210 km from Bastia to Bonifacio take you the full length of Corsica to its southern tip. Bonifacio's old town perches on white limestone cliffs above the sea. Visit the Escalier du Roi d'Aragon and take a boat trip to the Lavezzi Islands. A stop in Porto-Vecchio along the way is well worth it. Motorhome pitches are available near Bonifacio's harbour.
The 230 km from Bastia to Ajaccio along the west coast offer one of Corsica's finest routes. Visit Napoleon's birthplace, the Maison Bonaparte, and the Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption in Ajaccio. Along the way, enjoy the beaches of Sagone and the Genoese tower at Cargèse. Coastal roads are well suited to a campervan. Pitches are available on the outskirts of Ajaccio.

Around Bastia you will find campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Most are located along the coast north and south of the city, offering pitches with electrical hook-ups, sanitary facilities and often direct beach access. A few inland sites provide quieter settings among the Corsican maquis. Bastia itself has no campsite in the centre, but several well-equipped options are available in the surrounding area within easy driving distance.
Bastia offers several parking options suitable for larger vehicles. Parking in the city centre is limited, but spaces are available around the port and in the outer districts. Overnight sleeping in your vehicle is generally not permitted on public car parks – use designated motorhome areas nearby instead. Watch out for height restrictions in multi-storey car parks, which are usually unsuitable for motorhomes.
O Nelson foi muito porreiro e toda a experiência foi muito boa.
I had an absolutely fantastic experience renting Marco’s campervan in Portugal! The van is beautiful, extremely comfortable, and incredibly well equipped — honestly, it has everything you could possibly need for an amazing trip. You can really tell that a lot of care and attention has gone into making it feel like a home on the road. But what made the experience even better was Marco himself. He is extremely professional, kind, helpful, and always available whenever you need anything. From the first contact to the end of the trip, everything was smooth, easy, and stress-free. I couldn’t have asked for a better campervan or a better host. I would 100% recommend Marco and his van to anyone looking for an unforgettable road trip in Portugal. I would definitely rent from him again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Communication with the owner was great. The car absolutely met all our expectations for the trip. Amenities included a camping stove, solar shower, cooking supplies, blankets, bedding, and lots more. The car is in excellent mechanical condition and has low fuel consumption. We used about 75% of the tank over a distance of approximately 800 km. Very fuel-efficient. Ideal for a couple traveling together—we highly recommend it.
