Barcelona's La Sagrada Família has been under construction since 1882, making it one of the longest-running architectural projects in the world. This Mediterranean port city blends Gothic Quarter alleyways with modernist masterpieces by Antoni Gaudí, offering a landscape that rewards slow exploration. Stroll through Park Güell for panoramic city views, visit the Museu Picasso in the El Born neighbourhood, or wander along La Rambla towards the bustling Mercat de la Boqueria. The seafront stretches from Barceloneta beach all the way to the Forum, giving you easy access to coastal paths ideal for a morning walk. Tarragona sits 100 km south-west with its Roman amphitheatre, while the monastery of Montserrat rises 60 km north-west among dramatic rock formations. Barcelona's wide avenues and ring roads make navigating by motorhome straightforward, though the city centre is best explored on foot once you have parked up. Hiring a campervan through Yescapa connects you directly with local owners across the Barcelona area, so you can find a vehicle that fits your plans — whether that means a compact van for city-hopping or a fully equipped family setup. With peer-to-peer sharing, you also get personal tips from people who know the region inside out, helping you make the most of every kilometre.
Barcelona welcomes visitors year-round, with each season offering its own appeal. Spring brings comfortable temperatures and the Festes de Sant Jordi on 23 April, when the city fills with book and rose stalls. Summer is ideal for combining beach days with cultural visits, and the Festa Major de Gràcia in mid-August transforms the neighbourhood with decorated streets. Autumn is a great time to hire a campervan and explore at a relaxed pace, with fewer crowds at campsites along the coast. Winter stays mild, perfect for city walks and museum visits. Booking through Yescapa gives you access to peer-to-peer pricing, often more flexible than traditional rental agencies, especially during quieter months.

Sitges is just 65 km south-west of Barcelona, ideal for a 1 to 2-day getaway. The Passeig Marítim seafront promenade and the Museu Cau Ferrat right on the waterfront are must-visits. The coastal C-31 road takes you through Garraf Natural Park with cliff-top walking trails along the way. Campsites near the beach offer pitches suitable for motorhomes.
This 160 km route heads south-west from Barcelona to Tarragona and on to the Ebro Delta. In Tarragona, visit the Roman Amphitheatre and the Pont del Diable aqueduct. Further north, the Parc Natural del Cadí-Moixeró offers hiking trails and wildlife watching. Allow 3 to 5 days for this trip. Mountain roads are well maintained, but take your time on the switchbacks in a motorhome.

In Valencia, visit the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias and the historic Mercat Central. In Alicante, the Castillo de Santa Bárbara offers panoramic views from its hilltop. Allow 5 to 7 days for the journey. The AP-7 coastal motorway is well maintained, with numerous campsites dotted along the route.
Zaragoza lies roughly 280 km west of Barcelona, making for a varied 5 to 7-day route. Along the way, stop in Lleida to see the imposing Seu Vella perched on a hilltop. Around Barcelona you will find campsites to suit every preference — from coastal sites with direct beach access to quieter spots inland. Most offer pitches with electrical hook-ups for motorhomes and compact spaces for campervans. Shower and toilet blocks are standard. Several sites also feature pools, restaurants and Wi-Fi. During peak season, early booking is recommended, especially at coastal sites near Barcelona.
Barcelona has specific parking rules for motorhomes and campervans. Parking large vehicles in the city centre is heavily restricted, and the ZBE (Zona de Baixes Emissions) low-emission zone requires the correct environmental sticker. Overnight sleeping in a vehicle on public roads is not permitted. Use designated parking areas on the outskirts instead, many of which offer good public transport connections into the centre.
A really incredible experience with this van! We drove for 5 days down the coast and everything was perfect. Really handy cooking facilities, comfy bed and João explained everything to us perfectly, even giving us recommendations! He was also flexible with timings on returning the van. Cannot reccomend enough!
Everything went smooth with the rental, pickup and return of the camper. The camper had a few things that was not working, but overall it was a very good experience and a very good trip. Everything with the owner was good a easy going.
