Barcelona's La Sagrada Família has been under construction since 1882, making it one of the longest-running architectural projects in the world. This Mediterranean port city blends Gothic Quarter alleyways with modernist masterpieces by Antoni Gaudí, offering a landscape that rewards slow exploration. Stroll through Park Güell for panoramic city views, visit the Museu Picasso in the El Born neighbourhood, or wander along La Rambla towards the bustling Mercat de la Boqueria. The seafront stretches from Barceloneta beach all the way to the Forum, giving you easy access to coastal paths ideal for a morning walk. Tarragona sits 100 km south-west with its Roman amphitheatre, while the monastery of Montserrat rises 60 km north-west among dramatic rock formations. Barcelona's wide avenues and ring roads make navigating by motorhome straightforward, though the city centre is best explored on foot once you have parked up. Hiring a campervan through Yescapa connects you directly with local owners across the Barcelona area, so you can find a vehicle that fits your plans — whether that means a compact van for city-hopping or a fully equipped family setup. With peer-to-peer sharing, you also get personal tips from people who know the region inside out, helping you make the most of every kilometre.
Barcelona welcomes visitors year-round, with each season offering its own appeal. Spring brings comfortable temperatures and the Festes de Sant Jordi on 23 April, when the city fills with book and rose stalls. Summer is ideal for combining beach days with cultural visits, and the Festa Major de Gràcia in mid-August transforms the neighbourhood with decorated streets. Autumn is a great time to hire a campervan and explore at a relaxed pace, with fewer crowds at campsites along the coast. Winter stays mild, perfect for city walks and museum visits. Booking through Yescapa gives you access to peer-to-peer pricing, often more flexible than traditional rental agencies, especially during quieter months.
Barcelona is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Drive 270 km north-west from Barcelona into the Aragonese Pyrenees. Stop at the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park for mountain lakes and alpine trails, then continue to the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park. The town of Aínsa, with its medieval plaza, makes a great overnight stop. Mountain roads are well-maintained, and several campsites cater to motorhomes.
Cover 350 km west from Barcelona to Zaragoza, then push on to the Bardenas Reales desert landscape in Navarra. In Zaragoza, visit the Basílica del Pilar and the Aljafería Palace. The Bardenas Reales offers a surreal terrain of eroded clay formations — drive the marked circuit and park at the designated campervan area near the visitor centre. Flat, open roads make this route comfortable for any vehicle size.
Head 60 km north-west from Barcelona to the Montserrat mountain range. Visit the Benedictine monastery and take the Sant Joan funicular for sweeping views across Catalonia. The road up is well-maintained and suitable for a campervan. Park at the designated area near the monastery entrance and explore the hiking trails around Sant Jeroni peak.
Drive 70 km north-east from Barcelona along the coast to Tossa de Mar. Explore the Vila Vella, a walled medieval town overlooking the sea, and swim at Platja Gran. The GI-682 coastal road offers memorable views but has some tight bends — take it slowly in a motorhome. Several campsites with full hook-ups sit just outside town.
Travel 150 km south-west from Barcelona to Tarragona, then continue to the Ebro Delta natural park. In Tarragona, walk through the Roman amphitheatre and the old quarter. The delta's flat terrain is perfect for cycling and birdwatching at the Ecomuseu del Delta. Campervan-friendly aires are available near Deltebre and along the rice paddies.
Head 160 km north from Barcelona into the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. Walk the Fageda d'en Jordà beech forest growing inside a volcanic crater, and visit the medieval village of Santa Pau. The town of Olot serves as a good base with campsite facilities nearby. Roads through the area are well-surfaced and suitable for larger vehicles.

Barcelona and its surrounding area offer a good range of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Along the coast you will find sites with direct beach access, while inland options provide a quieter setting among pine forests and hills. Most campsites feature electric hook-ups, modern shower and toilet blocks, Wi-Fi, and dedicated pitches for larger vehicles. Several are open year-round, making Barcelona a practical base for touring Catalonia in any season.
Parking a motorhome or campervan in Barcelona requires some planning, as the city centre has restricted zones and height barriers on many underground car parks. Overnight parking in a vehicle on public streets is generally tolerated but camping behaviour — setting up chairs, awnings, or levelling blocks — is not permitted. The best approach is to use dedicated areas on the outskirts and travel into the centre by public transport. Barcelona's metro and bus network make this easy from most parking locations.
Tout s’est super bien passé !!! deux personnes très sympathique

Super location. Tout s'est tres bien passe.
Exceptional experience, I highly recommend it! Nuno is responsive, attentive and genuinely caring: he picked us up at the airport and provided us with a comprehensive list of must-see spots to explore the island, eat and sleep. Thanks to him, we discovered Madeira in a truly unique and authentic way. An unforgettable trip, made possible in large part by his invaluable help.
Great trip in this Vintage van! This is a old van, be aware of it, but everything work and the experience was really smooth. Pedro is very helpful and professional with his van. Strongly recommend for the vintage experience van life
Car is “hursh but fair”. Need a few km to grab a feeling but than you cruise. We went 900 km in n all kind of conditions and it was all good. All is in working order as described and not too long so you fit in a parking spot.
