Venice stretches across 118 small islands connected by over 400 bridges, making it the only major city in the world built entirely on water. The Basilica di San Marco, with its five Byzantine domes, has stood at the heart of Piazza San Marco since the 11th century. Wander through the Gallerie dell'Accademia to admire works by Titian and Tintoretto, or visit the Peggy Guggenheim Collection along the Grand Canal for modern masterpieces. The island of Murano, just 1.5 km north, is famous for its centuries-old glassblowing tradition, while Padua sits 38 km west with its remarkable Scrovegni Chapel. Heading south, Chioggia is 50 km away and offers a quieter lagoon atmosphere with colourful fishing boats. The flat terrain surrounding the Venetian lagoon makes driving a campervan straightforward, though the city centre itself is car-free — you will park on the mainland or at dedicated areas near the causeway. With Yescapa, you can hire a motorhome directly from local owners across the Veneto region, giving you the flexibility to explore Venice and its surroundings at your own pace. A campervan lets you wake up by the lagoon one morning and be among Prosecco hills the next, all without the hassle of fixed hotel bookings.
Venice welcomes visitors year-round, each season offering its own character. The Carnevale di Venezia in February fills the city with elaborate masks and parades, while the Biennale di Venezia runs from April to November, drawing art lovers worldwide. Spring and early autumn are ideal for campervan travel, with comfortable temperatures and good campsite availability around the lagoon. Summer is the most popular season, so booking your motorhome on Yescapa early ensures the best choice from local owners. Winter brings the magical Acqua Alta season and fewer crowds, perfect for a quieter Venice experience. Whenever you visit, the flat roads of the Veneto region make driving easy and enjoyable.

Around Venice, you will find plenty of campsites that make an excellent base for exploring the lagoon city. Most are located on the mainland in Mestre, Marghera, or along the coast at Cavallino-Treporti, offering pitches for motorhomes and campervans with electric hook-ups, sanitary facilities, and often direct beach access. Many sites also provide Wi-Fi, laundry services, and small shops for everyday essentials.
No vehicles are allowed in Venice itself, so you need to park your motorhome or campervan on the mainland. Piazzale Roma and the island of Tronchetto have large car parks, though fees for motorhomes can be high. More affordable park-and-ride options are available in Mestre and Marghera, with easy bus or tram connections to the historic centre. Overnight parking in your vehicle on public car parks is generally not permitted — use a nearby campsite instead.
Fantastic time had traveling in Lanzarote in Gonzalo and Saray's campervan - highly recommended👍🏻👍🏻 and brilliant hosts/ owners. We are a family of 4 ( 2 adults & 2 teenagers ( 16 & nearly 13) and the van was a perfect size for us all. We had no issues at all from start to finish. We were picked up and dropped off at the airport by Saray and Gonzalo- a massive benefit. The handover which was just a few minutes drive from the airport was hassle free and all our questions were answered. We were on our way within 30 minutes. The owners were really responsive thoughout our rental and even checked in with us after the first night to make sure everything was going well. The van itself was very clean, tidy, as described and pictured on the site. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and dishes and even had the basics needed for cooking and cleaning, which is always a real help. There was also freshly cleaned beach towels, ben linen and also towels for showers etc. There was plenty of room in the boot for luggage and the van had 4 camping chairs and a table- great for eating and relaxing after a day at the beach. The bathroom was a good size and allowed for showers etc without any issues. The van was easy and comfortable to drive and not too big or difficult to park. The reversing camera is a big help here. We had no issues on return either and our deposit was sent straight back to us after the rental without any delay. All and all we had a fantastic time exploring Lanzarote for five nights in Gonzalo and Saray's van and definitely highly recommend them as hosts and their campervan. We would definitely rent from them again.😊
