Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Territories

Territories — a region worth exploring

The Terres de l'Ebre region spans over 3,300 square kilometres across southern Catalonia, where the River Ebro completes its 930-kilometre journey from the Cantabrian Mountains to the Mediterranean Sea. This is one of the most ecologically diverse corners of Spain, anchored by the Ebro Delta Natural Park — a vast wetland of rice paddies, lagoons and flamingo colonies that stretches 320 square kilometres into the sea. From the coastal town of L'Ampolla to the mountain village of Arnes is roughly 75 kilometres, yet the landscape shifts from sandy beaches to the rugged limestone peaks of the Ports Natural Park, which rises above 1,400 metres. The medieval town of Miravet, perched above the river beneath its Templar castle, sits about 60 kilometres inland from the delta, offering a completely different atmosphere of quiet stone streets and olive groves. Whether you fancy birdwatching at the Punta de la Banya or cycling the Via Verda trail along a disused railway line, a campervan gives you the flexibility to follow your own rhythm. Motorhome travellers will find well-maintained roads connecting the main towns, while smaller campervans can navigate the narrower routes into the Ports mountains with ease. Through Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across the region, choosing from a wide range of vehicles that suit your plans — from compact vans for couples to fully equipped motorhomes for families.

Best time to visit

The Terres de l'Ebre region welcomes visitors year-round, with each season offering something special. Spring is ideal for birdwatching in the Ebro Delta, especially during the Birding Festival held each March, when thousands of migratory species pass through the wetlands. Summer brings warm Mediterranean days perfect for beach stops along the coast and paddling the river. Autumn is harvest season — the Festa de la Verema in the Terra Alta wine country celebrates the grape harvest each September. Winter stays mild along the coast, making it a peaceful time to explore without the crowds. Booking through Yescapa's peer-to-peer platform often means more competitive pricing outside peak summer months, so planning a campervan trip in spring or autumn can be especially good value.

What you need to know about roads and motorways in Territories

The Terres de l'Ebre is served by the AP-7 motorway running along the coast and the C-12 road following the Ebro river inland. The AP-7 is toll-free in this section, making coastal travel straightforward. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3,500 kg are 90 km/h on dual carriageways and 80 km/h on conventional roads. The N-340 national road offers a scenic alternative along the coast. Mountain roads into the Ports Natural Park are well-surfaced but narrower, so larger motorhomes should stick to main routes. Rest areas with basic facilities are spaced regularly along the AP-7 and C-12.

Frequently asked questions

What our users say about our campervans and motorhomes in Territories

Radosław

It was our first time in campervan and we got everything we needed. The car was comfortable, economical and fully equipped. We spent an unforgettable week during the total eclipse, although it was almost impossible to find available space on camping sites at that time. But the car batteries did great job so we could park even without the electricity access. The car used 8,9 l/100 km even though we almost didn't use highways. Carlos was very nice and helpful, he made our trip convenient and safe. We definitely recommend Carlos and his vehicle!

There was a small hiccup at first with the reservation, but it was solved quickly and from there on it was total bliss. The motorhome is absolutely top-notch, and the service was really warm and friendly. Despite the language barrier (we didn't speak much Spanish and they didn't speak much English), everything went very smoothly. So there's no need to worry if you don't speak their language — they have the means and experience to handle it. At the handover they walked us through the motorhome and gave us some camping tips and tricks, which made our trip very enjoyable. A big plus was the air conditioner in the living quarters.

Fantastic Family Experience with a Wonderful Host! We are a family of four and could not be more satisfied with our experience. The owner, Martial, was exceptionally helpful throughout the entire process. Before booking, he answered all of our questions promptly and consistently catered to our needs. During our trip, he went out of his way to check in on us and offered fantastic local advice and recommendations on places to visit. The pickup and drop-off processes were both seamless and efficient. The van itself is in excellent condition, extremely well-maintained, spotless, and fully equipped with everything you might need for a great trip—with practically everything working perfectly. We were also deeply touched by Martial’s kindness in picking us up at the airport, which made the start of our trip so much easier.

We had a fantastic family road trip in Carlos’s motorhome, visiting Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Schwarzwald, and Europa-Park. The vehicle had a few minor scratches from previous rentals and was due for a routine service, but Carlos assured us upfront not to worry about them, and it didn't affect our trip at all. The motorhome was well-equipped—having the onboard air grill was an especially nice touch! Pickup and drop-off were quick, straightforward, and hassle-free. We highly recommend Carlos and his motorhome.

The vehicle picture are old and today's vehicle condition are quite different; there are signs of rust on the bodywork and early signs of mold on the inner tent of the upper bed; few scratches to the vehicle are present but they do no demine its functionalities. Despite the fact that everything works, It has been frustrating to pull and push the rear seat back especially at the beginning of the journey, then we get it right with the experience; I personally recommend having the fold/unfold mechanism inspected and fixed. Anyhow, it allowed us to have a wonderful vacation and the robust engine never left us unsupported. Antonio is very supportive and responsive; he helped us with the logistics and gave us a few tips to start the travel.

This was our first experience with a camper. Aurora and Cristian were very helpful and the rental process was very easy and fast. The camper is quite old, but is very well maintained and fully functional. I would recommend this camper. We didn't had any issues during our trip.
