What you need to know about roads and motorways in Rhineland-Palatinate
German motorways (Autobahnen) in Rheinland-Pfalz are toll-free for all vehicles, including motorhomes. The A61 and A48 are the main north–south and east–west routes through the region. While some Autobahn sections have no speed limit for cars, motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are restricted to 100 km/h, and those under 3.5 tonnes to 120 km/h on unrestricted stretches. Rest areas with dedicated motorhome parking are well spaced along major routes. Many scenic roads through the Moselle and Rhine valleys are two-lane Bundesstraßen — well maintained but narrower, so allow extra time if driving a larger vehicle.

We had an amazing experience with both the campervan and its owner, Alvaro! Alvaro is a super friendly, cheerful, and helpful young guy. He personally picked us up from the airport and gave us some fantastic recommendations for beautiful places to visit in Mallorca, including hidden gems that only a local would know about. He also suggested some great local restaurants where we could try traditional Mallorcan specialties. After we returned the campervan, he was kind enough to drop us off at a location of our choice. Communication with him throughout the entire trip was excellent — easy, friendly, and really helpful. The campervan itself is very cozy, comfortable, and well-equipped. It has everything you need for a wonderful getaway for two people. Fuel consumption is around 8–10 L/100 km, which is perfectly reasonable for this type of vehicle. We were extremely happy with the whole experience and would definitely rent from Alvaro again! Thank you so much for everything, Alvaro! 😊🚐☀️

We rented Máximo’s van for our trip to La Palma, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! If you’ve driven there, you know how steep and challenging the roads can be, but we always felt safe and comfortable. The van has absolutely everything you could need, even for remote workers like us. Máximo was incredibly helpful, flexible, and communicative from start to finish. He even accommodated a few extra requests as our van broke down while we were driving from Lanzarote and we urgently needed a replacement. He really went above and beyond to help us out. We would 100% recommend renting from Máximo to anyone looking to explore La Palma. Thank you again for making a stressful situation so much easier and for helping us enjoy our trip!
