Queensland offers a fantastic spread of campsites for every style of trip, from beachfront parks along the Coral Sea to shaded inland retreats on the Atherton Tablelands. Most holiday parks cater to both campervans and motorhomes with powered sites, dump points, modern amenity blocks and camp kitchens. Many Queensland coastal parks also provide swimming pools, barbecue areas and direct beach access, making longer stays comfortable and enjoyable.
Queensland's main coastal route, the Bruce Highway (Highway 1), runs over 1,600 kilometres from Brisbane to Cairns and is toll-free for its entire length. In the Brisbane metropolitan area, some motorways such as the Gateway Motorway and Logan Motorway use electronic tolling — a linkt or e-tag pass is the easiest way to pay. Speed limits for motorhomes over 4.5 tonnes are generally capped at 100 km/h on open roads, while lighter campervans follow standard car limits. Rest areas with free overnight parking are well signposted along major highways, making long-distance travel in Queensland straightforward and budget-friendly.

The van is fully equipped: it has kitchenware, a sink, a convenient handheld shower, and even a solar shower, plus two camping chairs and an easy-to-assemble table. The bed is incredibly comfortable, and when not in use, it converts into a small bench. It was easy and delightful to feel right at home during this vacation; we can’t wait to return to Portugal to explore the north with Koda 🧡

Our experience with Ivan and Tamara was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. They were incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful, and supported us with many things throughout our trip. The motorhome was excellent, extremely clean, comfortable, and fully equipped with everything we needed. Ivan and Tamara also kindly picked us up from the airport and took us back at the end of our trip. They and their family welcomed us so warmly that we immediately felt at home. This was much more than just renting a motorhome—we arrived as guests and left feeling that we had made wonderful new friends in Switzerland.
