What you need to know about roads and motorways in North Holland

Motorways in Noord-Holland are toll-free, so you can travel the A7, A9, and A4 without any charges. The national speed limit on motorways is 100 km/h during the day (06:00–19:00) and 120 or 130 km/h at night, though motorhomes over 3,500 kg are limited to 90 km/h on all motorways. Roads are flat and well-signposted, with frequent service areas offering fuel, toilets, and parking for larger vehicles. The Afsluitdijk (A7) connecting Noord-Holland to Friesland is a 32 km causeway across the IJsselmeer — a memorable drive but exposed to crosswinds, so take care with high-profile motorhomes.

We had such a positive experience with Tuija and the Hymer - and even named one of our self-made perfumes after this lovely van! We used the upper bed and were able to keep warm even in chillier nights thanks to the two large duvets (and we brought a hot water bottle rather than using the heating system).
