Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Hauts-de-France

Hauts-de-France — a region worth exploring

Hauts-de-France stretches across 31,813 square kilometres of northern France, where the chalk cliffs of Cap Blanc-Nez rise 134 metres above the English Channel and mark the closest point between France and Britain. The region is a patchwork of wide agricultural plains, forested river valleys, and a 190-kilometre coastline that runs from Dunkirk down to the Baie de Somme, one of the largest estuaries in northern Europe. History is woven into every corner: the Thiepval Memorial near Albert honours over 72,000 soldiers from the First World War, while the Gothic towers of Amiens Cathedral — the largest cathedral in France by interior volume — dominate the Picardy capital. From Lille, the vibrant regional hub, it is roughly 160 km south-west to Amiens, and about 110 km north-west from Amiens to the seaside resort of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage. Smaller roads wind through the Avesnois Regional Nature Park and the marshlands of the Marais Audomarois, both ideal for slow-paced campervan touring. Motorhome travellers will appreciate the flat terrain and well-maintained départementale roads that connect market towns like Saint-Quentin, Laon, and Compiègne. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners based across Hauts-de-France, giving you the flexibility to collect your vehicle close to where your adventure begins and benefit from genuine, peer-to-peer travel advice.

Best time to visit

Hauts-de-France enjoys a long touring season from April through to October. Spring is ideal for exploring the Baie de Somme when migratory birds return and wildflowers carpet the dunes. September's Braderie de Lille, one of Europe's largest flea markets, draws over a million visitors across a single weekend — a brilliant excuse to park up and explore the city on foot. Summer months offer the warmest weather for coastal drives along the Côte d'Opale, while autumn brings golden colours to the forests around Compiègne. Booking through Yescapa's peer-to-peer platform often means more competitive rates outside peak July and August, and owners across Hauts-de-France can offer flexible pick-up arrangements to suit your plans.

What our users say about our campervans and motorhomes in Hauts-de-France

Radosław
5 / 5

It was our first time in campervan and we got everything we needed. The car was comfortable, economical and fully equipped. We spent an unforgettable week during the total eclipse, although it was almost impossible to find available space on camping sites at that time. But the car batteries did great job so we could park even without the electricity access. The car used 8,9 l/100 km even though we almost didn't use highways. Carlos was very nice and helpful, he made our trip convenient and safe. We definitely recommend Carlos and his vehicle!

There was a small hiccup at first with the reservation, but it was solved quickly and from there on it was total bliss. The motorhome is absolutely top-notch, and the service was really warm and friendly. Despite the language barrier (we didn't speak much Spanish and they didn't speak much English), everything went very smoothly. So there's no need to worry if you don't speak their language — they have the means and experience to handle it. At the handover they walked us through the motorhome and gave us some camping tips and tricks, which made our trip very enjoyable. A big plus was the air conditioner in the living quarters.

Fantastic Family Experience with a Wonderful Host! We are a family of four and could not be more satisfied with our experience. The owner, Martial, was exceptionally helpful throughout the entire process. Before booking, he answered all of our questions promptly and consistently catered to our needs. During our trip, he went out of his way to check in on us and offered fantastic local advice and recommendations on places to visit. The pickup and drop-off processes were both seamless and efficient. The van itself is in excellent condition, extremely well-maintained, spotless, and fully equipped with everything you might need for a great trip—with practically everything working perfectly. We were also deeply touched by Martial’s kindness in picking us up at the airport, which made the start of our trip so much easier.

We had a fantastic family road trip in Carlos’s motorhome, visiting Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Schwarzwald, and Europa-Park. The vehicle had a few minor scratches from previous rentals and was due for a routine service, but Carlos assured us upfront not to worry about them, and it didn't affect our trip at all. The motorhome was well-equipped—having the onboard air grill was an especially nice touch! Pickup and drop-off were quick, straightforward, and hassle-free. We highly recommend Carlos and his motorhome.

The vehicle picture are old and today's vehicle condition are quite different; there are signs of rust on the bodywork and early signs of mold on the inner tent of the upper bed; few scratches to the vehicle are present but they do no demine its functionalities. Despite the fact that everything works, It has been frustrating to pull and push the rear seat back especially at the beginning of the journey, then we get it right with the experience; I personally recommend having the fold/unfold mechanism inspected and fixed. Anyhow, it allowed us to have a wonderful vacation and the robust engine never left us unsupported. Antonio is very supportive and responsive; he helped us with the logistics and gave us a few tips to start the travel.

This was our first experience with a camper. Aurora and Cristian were very helpful and the rental process was very easy and fast. The camper is quite old, but is very well maintained and fully functional. I would recommend this camper. We didn't had any issues during our trip.
