Puglia stretches over 400 kilometres along Italy's Adriatic coast, forming the heel of the Italian boot and home to the largest olive oil production in the country. From the limestone cliffs of the Gargano Peninsula in the north to the warm waters of the Salento coast in the south, this region rewards slow travel at every turn. The iconic trulli houses of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, sit roughly 60 kilometres south of Bari, while the baroque city of Lecce — often called the Florence of the South — lies about 150 kilometres further down the coast. Puglia's landscape is remarkably flat compared to much of southern Italy, making it ideal for campervan and motorhome travel along wide, well-maintained roads. Inland, the Valle d'Itria is dotted with dry-stone walls and ancient masserie farmhouses, and the Castellana Caves offer one of Italy's most impressive underground networks. Coastal towns like Polignano a Mare, perched on dramatic sea cliffs, and Otranto, with its medieval cathedral, give you plenty of reasons to park up and explore on foot. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners across Puglia — from Bari and Foggia to Brindisi and Taranto — giving you the freedom to discover this sun-soaked region at your own pace, with a vehicle that suits your group perfectly.
Puglia enjoys a long travel season, with May to October offering warm, dry days ideal for a campervan trip. The Festa di San Nicola in Bari each May draws crowds with its colourful processions and seaside celebrations, while the Notte della Taranta festival in Melpignano every August is one of Europe's largest open-air music events. Spring and early autumn are particularly pleasant for touring by motorhome, with quieter roads and easy campsite availability across the region. Summer is the most popular season, so we recommend booking early on Yescapa to secure the best choice of vehicles. Peer-to-peer hire often means more competitive pricing, especially outside peak months.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 300 km circuit explores Puglia's Gargano Peninsula over 5–8 days. Drive from Manfredonia to the seaside towns of Vieste and Peschici, with stops in the ancient Foresta Umbra. Coastal roads suit campervans well, and campsites along the shore offer full hook-ups.
Cover 500 km in 7–11 days on a full loop of Puglia's highlights. Start in Bari, head north to the Gargano, then south through the Valle d'Itria and on to Lecce. A motorhome gives you space for longer stays at well-equipped campsites along the way.
A 600 km route over 10–15 days linking Puglia with neighbouring Basilicata. From Bari, visit Matera's famous cave dwellings, then return via Taranto and the Puglia coastline. Flat roads and good infrastructure make this route comfortable in both campervans and motorhomes.
A short 180 km route through Puglia's Valle d'Itria over 3–6 days. Wander between Alberobello's trulli houses, the whitewashed streets of Ostuni, and the caves at Castellana. Compact campervans are perfect for the narrow rural lanes connecting these towns.
This 150 km route takes 3–5 days along Puglia's southern tip. Drive from Lecce to Gallipoli on the Ionian side, then across to Otranto on the Adriatic. Coastal campsites are plentiful, and the flat terrain makes for relaxed driving.
Follow 350 km of Puglia's Adriatic shoreline over 5–8 days, from Foggia south to Brindisi. Stop at Trani's Romanesque cathedral and the clifftop town of Polignano a Mare. Motorhome-friendly service areas and campsites are well spaced along this coastal stretch.

Puglia offers a wide choice of campsites spread from the Gargano coast in the north to the Salento shores in the south. Many sites sit right by the sea, with pitches shaded by olive trees and Mediterranean pines. Facilities typically include electrical hook-ups, fresh water, hot showers, and waste disposal points suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Inland options near the Valle d'Itria provide a quieter base for exploring Puglia's countryside.
Puglia's main motorway is the A14, which runs along the Adriatic coast from Foggia to Bari and connects to the national toll network. Tolls are paid at booths by card or cash, and costs are calculated by distance. Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are classified differently, so expect slightly higher toll fees. The speed limit on Italian motorways is 130 km/h for cars, but motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes must keep to 100 km/h. Beyond the A14, most travel in Puglia is on well-surfaced dual carriageways and regional roads, which are generally flat and easy to navigate even in larger vehicles. Rest areas with fuel and basic facilities appear regularly along the main routes.
A deeply frustrating experience. The vehicle owner was helpful and kind throughout, but the Yescapa platform failed completely when support was needed. The vehicle broke down after just two days of travel, and Yescapa provided no phone line for urgent assistance. Their email response came more than 12 hours later. In the end, they refunded only 66 euros of the 410 euros that represent their share of the rental cost, leaving me with a substantial financial loss due to them.
Valentina was the best person I could ask for in all this experience! She explained about everything, answered questions and let me know that she’s available for whatever I need. Even though I had changes in my trip she was flexible and patient. Thank you so much 🤍
We had a great experience renting this van in Portugal. The owner was super nice, friendly, and easygoing. He explained everything to us clearly and without any complications, and he was always easy to reach in case we had any questions or problems. Luckily, the van worked perfectly throughout the whole trip. It drives very well and was the perfect size and setup for two people. We really enjoyed having it and had no issues at all. The owner was also very open to feedback and genuinely wanted to make sure we had a good experience. I can definitely recommend renting this van and would happily do it again!
We had a great stay in the camper. Everything was lovely, clean, comfortable and exactly as described. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, and made the whole experience very easy. I would definitely recommend it.
