Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Aosta Valley

Aosta Valley — a region worth exploring

Valle d'Aosta is Italy's smallest region by area, yet it holds the country's four highest peaks — Mont Blanc (4,808 m), the Matterhorn (4,478 m), Monte Rosa (4,634 m) and Gran Paradiso (4,061 m). Tucked into the north-western corner of the Italian Alps, this compact territory stretches roughly 80 km from the Pont-Saint-Martin entrance in the east to the Mont Blanc Tunnel border with France in the west. The central Dora Baltea valley links medieval fortresses such as Castello di Fénis and Forte di Bard, both reachable within a 30 km drive from the regional capital, Aosta. Gran Paradiso National Park, Italy's oldest national park, covers more than 700 square kilometres of protected alpine terrain on the region's southern flank, while the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car at Courmayeur lifts visitors to 3,466 m for panoramic views. Roads here follow valley floors and climb through well-maintained tunnels, making the region surprisingly accessible for larger vehicles. From Aosta to Cervinia the drive is around 50 km along a scenic route that passes through the Valtournenche valley. Whether you prefer a compact campervan for narrow mountain lanes or a fully equipped motorhome for longer stays, Yescapa's peer-to-peer platform connects you with local owners across Valle d'Aosta, giving you the freedom to pick up a vehicle close to your starting point and explore at your own pace. Hiring a campervan here means waking up to alpine meadows, thermal springs and castle-dotted valleys every morning.

Best time to visit

Valle d'Aosta welcomes visitors year-round, with each season offering its own appeal. June to September is ideal for campervan touring, when alpine passes are open and mountain campsites operate at full capacity. The Fête de la Musique in Aosta each June fills the old town with live performances, while the Bataille de Reines cow-fighting tournament in October draws crowds to arenas across the region. Booking through Yescapa during spring or autumn often means more competitive peer-to-peer rates and quieter roads. Winter travellers can still enjoy Valle d'Aosta by motorhome, parking near ski resorts like Courmayeur or Cervinia and combining slopes with cosy valley drives.

We had a truly wonderful experience with Tobia and his motorhome. The vehicle was in perfect condition, practically like new, very clean, comfortable, and extremely well maintained. It was the perfect companion for our summer family trip and gave us everything we needed for a fantastic camping experience. From even before the pick-up, communication with Tobia was excellent. He was always responsive, helpful, and genuinely did his best to solve any issues, provide us with all the information we needed, and take our particular situation into consideration. We really appreciated his kindness and flexibility throughout the whole rental. The motorhome itself was very comfortable to drive and surprisingly fuel-efficient, which was a big plus during our long trip. We spent several weeks travelling with it as a family, and it truly made our summer holiday very special and memorable. I would highly recommend both Tobia and this motorhome to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable and enjoyable camping experience. We would definitely choose this motorhome again for our next trip. Thank you, Tobia, for helping make our family holiday such a great experience!
