Tommy is a 1977 VW Westfalia Bay, the very legend of free spirit travelling. He doesn’t have the comfort of a hotel or even a modern camper, but all for the better. If less is more, Tommy has it all.

Travel the island, discover amazing places and sleep on the beach with the powerful ocean next to you. Let the legend live on!

Important! Tommy is an old boy and may only travel on the south coast of Tenerife (see details below). Insurance requires minimum driver age 26 with minimum 2 years of driving licence.

Welcome inside Tommy is the king of shabby chic with his warm rustic feel and there are many winks to the hippies that made this van legendary.

For two travellers - Two belted front seats

One double sofa bed - For a good night's sleep or an afternoon nap in the shade

Pop-up roof - The classic Westfalia feature for full standing height and an airy feel

Kitchenette - With a gas stove, a sink and a fridge for your cool drinks

Camping table and two chairs

50 liter fresh water tank - For washing the dishes or yourself

50 liter grey water tank - Keep the island clean and leave nothing behind!

Outdoor shower - Wash off the salt

USB sockets - For charging your phone, tablet, computer or drone

Options - Roof bed: The top bed is upon request since it's fixed and does not allow for standing height in the van. We recommend just the lower bed. - WC: A chemical toilet with all necessary products and paper for your independence.

We think of Tenerife as Treasure Island. The beaches, misty mountains and mystic forests are right out of an adventure book. Add an almost Martian desert, timeless villages, vibrant cities and a South American vibe and you have Europe’s most diverse destination. Luckily for us vintage van enthusiasts it’s also small enough to explore at a slow island pace.

Conditions

• Minimum age 26 years old with minimum 2 years of driving licence.

• Tommy is a old van and can't go everywhere on a mountainous island like Tenerife. His use is limited to beach hopping the south of the island, which is where our best spots are, anyway. Specifically, he can go between Los Gigantes in the northwest to Las Teresitas beach in the northeast, and in altitude up to the roads TF-82 and TF-28. This means no Teide, Masca, Anaga or north coast.

• Delivery will take place in Los Cristianos. Unfortunately we don't have the possibility to offer a transfer or delivery elsewhere.

• An old van is not easy to drive and needs good care. We will do a test drive and you need to be able to drive it well before taking off.

• We will sign a regular rent-a-car contract when you check in. A basic road insurance is included.

• Tommy will meet you with a full tank of GASOLINE (95/98) and you return him the same way.

• He will also have a full fresh water tank. Please fill it up and empty the grey water before returning (see our map for good places).

• In case of mechanical breakdown we will reimburse the remaining days.

• It's a good idea to pack soft bags, since there is little space for hard suitcases onboard.

Please take care of our baby. We are custodians of a heritage and would like to see our vehicles around for another 40 years. Travel slow, take in the moment, don’t go off-roading and just use common sense. Let the adventure begin!
