The HY came on the market shortly after the war when traffic was much calmer. Back then it was normal, now it's called unwinding. But who is in a hurry on vacation?
It is an old-timer, so no sporty performance. Nevertheless, she can still keep up with traffic. Just stride along with with the big lorries.
No power steering or power brakes, etc. If it's not there, is won't break down. She always starts. In recent years, a lot of energy has been put into reliability and safety. It fits in a normal parking space and environmental zones are no problem being an old-timer (and on petrol).
Compact but spacious: There is a lot of space in the back with headroom everywhere. The sitting area is at the back. You can sit with 6 persons. Kids roomy, adults a snug fit. There is enough space left at the entry and kitchen block to move around with 2 people.
The windows all around make it light and spacious. Together with the tailgate and the side door, you are still outside when you are inside. Even when it rains you can sit at the table with the tailgate open and enjoy the freedom. A coffee stop at that one beautiful spot is thus always dry and sheltered, but still with fresh air and a view.
In the evening with the curtains closed it is a cozy cocoon. There is no better place for a game or a good conversation.

In the event of a cancellation, the reimbursement terms vary depending on the date on which the booking was cancelled.
If the cancellation is 30 days or more before departure, you will be reimbursed 70% of the rental cost (insurance and service fees excluded).
If less than 30 days before departure, no reimbursement will be possible, the total amount of the transaction is due.
Flexible cancellation due to cases of force majeure
If you are unable to travel due to a force majeure, you can benefit from adapted cancellation conditions. They allow you to postpone your trip at no cost.
The owner's remuneration will be refunded within 10 days after your cancellation. You will be able to use the remaining balance on your next booking, for the vehicle of your choice.

Onze citroen HY bus is al ruim 15 jaar in de familie. Ieder jaar reviseren/restaureren we een stuk van de bus. De conditie van de bus is inmiddels erg gezond.
We gaan er vrijwel ieder jaar meermalen mee weg. De kinderen vinden het geweldig.
Ik heb altijd al een voorliefde voor oldtimers gehad. Ontwerpen zijn niet teveel gehinderd door de windtunnel en hebben daardoor een eigen gezicht. Daarnaast is de techniek relatief eenvoudig. Als techneut is het daardoor mogelijk om veel in eigen beheer te doen.
Ieder jaar besteed ik 2 weken aan het verbeteren van de bus.
Veiligheid en betrouwbaarheid eerst. Daarna de koets en interieur. Zo heeft hij onder meer een nieuwe versnellingsbak en remrevisie gehad, is er heel veel laswerk gedaan, nieuwe deuren en totale schilderbeurt.
Maar hij moet bijgehouden worden, want de roestduivel slaapt nooit.
Daarnaast blijft er natuurlijk altijd wat te verbeteren…
Mijn hele leven ben ik met kampeerbussen op pad geweest. De eerste bus van mijn ouders was DÉ Volkswagen T1 met splitscreen, barndoors, flipseat en Westfalia interieur. Dat was toen een 'gewoon' busje. Te roestig - naar de sloop. Eeuwig jammer; hadden we hem maar gehouden.
Daarna zijn nog een aantal bussen ingebouwd. Een Fiat 238, een Bedford, een Mercedes 308.
Inmiddels weet ik wel wat ik zelf prettig vind in een bus. Maar dat past er natuurlijk niet allemaal in...
