Continuing in our Star Wars theme, I'm happy to introduce our new (to us) campervan, the Millenium Falcon. It is a top of the line VW California SE model, arguably the Rolls Royce of campervans (!?). Regardless of your opinion, there is no doubt that this Volkswagen-designed campervan is full of ingenius engineering and clean lines.
The vehicle is perfectly suited for road trips around Scotland, with a diesel heater (necessary in the cooler months), heated seats (true luxury) and air conditioning (unfortunately a little less necessary, even in summer!). There is seating and sleeping space for four adults. The lower bed has a memory foam mattress cover making it very comfortable, the upper bed is spacious and has a slatted bed frame making it also quite comfortable. There's high quality cookware in the van, a fridge, and all the normal features you'd expect in a campervan. Probably the best, in my opinion, are the folding chairs that are easily accessed from the rear tailgate. :-)
The vehicle would make a perfect base for a careful, considerate, and respectful small family or couple interested in exploring Scotland. We have plenty of experience camping and travelling around Scotland, and would be happy to help advise you on your trip. Please note that we have, on request, a child seat, BBQ, duvet and pillows.

We had a brilliant time in this lovely van. It was spacious, clean, great to drive and had everything we needed. Andy spent time showing us exactly how everything worked and also gave us a recommendation for an amazing campsite which was one of the highlights of our trip. It made a big difference to be in such a reliable, well equipped and well loved van.
First class!
My wife and I recently got married and had the pleasure of touring this vehicle around some highlights of the NC500!
Collection: Andy's address is easy to find and was ready waiting for us. He committed to spending nearly an hour to explain how to work the van, which proved super useful, especially when out in some of the most North Western points of Scotland. Andy also obliged in giving a few site recommendations and walked through a couple of "what if's", which helped ease any anxiety into our first campervan experience.
The drive: The van albeit relatively old in comparison to some of the new flashy VW models you see driving around, was so easy to drive and handled all the tricky one lane, steep gradient roads perfectly, and sat at 70 no bother on the dual carriageway!
The pitch: Set up was easy and adapted nicely to your traditional site with a hard ground and going off road amongst those wild beaches up north. Cables, leisure battery etc all previously explained.
The sleep: I am 6ft 3 and found I slept just fine in the Rock n Roll bed on the ground floor. Was a tad too long for the pop up, but glad I tried it out, and was a useful test for when we go to buy our own
Cooking and leisure: Everything was very simple inside and we managed to eat all the normal meals and have our morning coffee, just as we would living in the city. All the utensils were provided and made the evening time that much more enjoyable and relaxing
Handover: Was very quick and painless and Andy also obliged with some useful tips when we go to buy our own camper. It’s very rare to have a seasoned Camper offer two cents, when you live in the city like we do.
Overall very happy and would absolutely urge those on the fence, to take the plunge as we did and enjoy Andy's van and see more of Scotland!

I am a glaciologist working at the University of Edinburgh. I've lived in Scotland since 2003, and absolutely love the highlands, and the opportunities these mountains offer for climbing, skiing, mountain biking, walking and running.
