Coronavirus information

Due to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Europe, Yescapa is following the World of Health Organization for security measures to be followed. This is why we are adapting our cancellation terms for eligible bookings which will be susceptible to change, depending on the guidelines communicated by the WHO.

For this reason, it is not possible to send a booking request online for departure dates before 15/04/2020, in accordance with sanitary guidelines. Only requests deemed as "necessary" which would provide transport or accommodation solutions for workers called to action for the management of the sanitary crisis, may be able to request vehicles for this time period, according to their line of work. Which bookings are eligible for the specific COVID-19 cancellation terms?

Bookings concerned should have one of more of the following criteria:

  • Rentals with departure dates that fall before 4th May 2020.
  • Renters who are not able to get to the destination of where the hire vehicle is, for medical or sanitary reasons, due to official transport restrictions, airline or land transport cancellations initiated by transport companies, due to the COVID-19, or suspect and confirmed cases of COVID-19.
  • Owners or renters who tested positive or suspect to be infected by the coronavirus (medical supporting documents required).
  • For booking cancellations due to an event being cancelled due to COVID-19 (that was the purpose of the trip) such as concerts, cultural events, sporting events, etc.; proof of participation will be requested.

What is the specific cancellation policy applicable?

Renters and owners eligible can agree to a change of dates for their trip, at no extra cost. If future dates are unknown as of yet, you may communicate those at a later stage.

An advance in the form of a rental credit for the rental amount, valid for 18 months, will allow the payment of a future rental for new dates. This rental credit can be used in several instalments over the 18 month period.

For peer to peer rentals, when a change of dates is impossible, the renter can ask for the reimbursement of the hire. In this case, they will receive a reimbursement of the owner's remuneration within 10 days. The renter will receive a credit in the form of rental credit for the service fees and rental insurance, valid for 18 months, on one or more than one booking.

For rentals with a professional owner, only a change of dates is possible. The credit in the form of a rental credit will, therefore, be equal to the total amount of the hire and valid for 18 months, on a future hire with the same owner.

If the owner of the vehicle or professional owner decides to cancel the hire, the owner's planned remuneration will automatically be reimbursed to the renter.

As the cancellation insurance is offered by an external entity to Yescapa, if you have subscribed to this insurance, the amount paid will not be reimbursed.

What does this cancellation policy imply?

For all cancellations of eligible bookings, owners will not incur cancellation costs and their response rate will remain unaffected. Owners will not receive their planned remuneration for the cancelled booking. We understand that cancellations are not ideal, even if they occur due to a valid reason. Please don't forget that cancellations due to COVID-19 are first and foremost a safety regulation to protect the health of our community.

In the event of a change of dates, the new rental cost may vary depending on rental and insurance rates during the new period. The owner and renter must agree on the terms applicable for the new booking (dates and rates) and must communicate this information to us by email. In order for us to edit your booking accordingly and in a speedy manner, we ask that both parties, owner and renter are cc'd in the email sent to our team, indicating the new terms of the booking.

If the credit presented as a rental credit is equal to the amount of the service fees and rental insurance, the latter will be valid only on the service fees and rental insurance of future bookings.

The rental credit is equal to the total amount of the hire, will be valid on the total amount of your future rentals and limited to hiring a vehicle from the same owner, of the originally cancelled booking.

The effective use-by date of a credit, in the form of a rental credit, is of 18 months maximum, from the date of cancellation of the initial booking. The travel dates can be after the 18 months, if the booking confirmation by payment of the total of the booking, takes place before the use-by date of the credit.

If a renter or owner cancels a hire following these terms, both parties will be notified by email.

If you have paid for a rental using a gift voucher, you will be able to use a credit, in the form of a rental credit, of the initial amount on the gift card, valid for 18 months after the cancellation date of the booking. For all gift cards purchased within the past 6 months (from 13/03/2020), the expiry date will be extended by 3 months.
